    Should I keep a frizzle Pekin Bantam on sand to avoid feather soiling?

    I'm going to have them in a covered, weather proof run so I don't think it'll be a problem. I also live in the UK and we're not known for our sunny climate :lol: but apart from that, do you think it could theoretically help? :)

    I just got two Pekin Bantams and one is a frizzle. My dad recommended keeping them on sand instead of sawdust as their poop will be less likely to stick to their feathers. Any ideas? And would children's sand be fine? it's considerably cheaper than proper sand bedding. :)

    I need a very small bantam hen for a broody project but I'm not sure what breed to pick. A Pekin might be OK but could be too clumsy. Are Seramas good at sitting tight? Or Japanese, sablepoot, seabright, booted, rose-combed, Dutch, Belgian etc. Any insight will be of great help :)
