I legit need help with these eggs, please. Coturnix.

Thanks guys. The person I bought them from is wonderful, she has beautiful healthy and happy birds and I was her first experience shipping eggs. It was a learning experience for us both, but honestly they were packaged well. Someone had stepped on the package during shipping and there was a...

So sad. I opened them up but they weren't good. One of the babies had part of the head so deformed that a chunk was basically missing. Another one had a very detached air cell and the bird was fully formed, but incredibly small. I don't think it had the strength. Both were dead and the rest of...

Alright, I'll try seeing if I can do that with at least one of them. The eggs are huge, but the babies don't seem to be. The air cells are probably about 1/4th the egg. All I can really see is the air cell and the big black mass that is the baby. I could actually feel them moving when I was...

Do you know how to handle an egg that hasn't pipped internally yet? I am down to do what I can to hatch them, but I really want to do it right.

Hey, I candled them like you said, three are clearly wiggling and alive and the air cell doesn't look like it's been pipped. One was a total dud (I opened it and sure enough never even fertilized) and two, I'm not sure. They look a little like the first three, but I don't see movement. And they...

Ohh, I'll go try one right now. Should I start with the wiggling eggs or one that is probably no good as a test?

I have been trying to candle them but I can't see much of anything. I can see a blob wiggling, and I can see the air cell in them, but barely. I tried using my phone light to do it, but it's not super bright.

Can you link me? I've only found instructions for pipped eggs.

So day 16 early morning I had three babies hatch. The remaining nine eggs were left in the incubator, with the settings unchanged. I have two highly rated hygrometers and thermometers inside the incubator, aside from the built in one. Everything has been at 99.5F and 70-75% humidity. There are...

Was starting to give up on the rest of the eggs, then this guy started shaking

It's day 19, I had 3 of 9 eggs hatch on the morning of day 16. Then nothing. A tiny bit of wiggling from a few eggs yesterday, but again all went quiet. Then this morning, this little egg front and center started shaking like crazy. I'm rooting for them. This is live feed, by the way.

    Quail Fungus?

I think that's actually bruising. I've seen it before on birds (grew up with half our house being an aviary) who have had injuries. For example, if they whack the leg on something, or if it just gets hurt somehow, the whole limb can bruise bright green. It would also explain the limping. That...

Best quail food on a budget

Try contacting local quail breeders. I got a 10 gallon bucket filled to the brim with feed for five bucks. They have it specially made at the mill using a custom recipe just for quail. I think a lot of breeders do, or at least commercial ones.

    Day 16 are these pips?!

Oh cool! Thank you. The little one is totally red all over. Like really really red. He has the black stripes and then he's just red, even his belly. I was surprised by HOW red he is. He also came out of a completely brown egg. The tuxedo one we named Penguin, lol. I'm surprised at the variety...

    Day 16 are these pips?!

No, I'm scared to take them out because it looks like a couple might have pipped. BUT. One is wiggling today! And wiggling like crazy, too!

    Day 16 are these pips?!

I have three babies! They hatched early morning of day 17 (16 if you count day 1 as '0'). It's now two days later, I haven't seen the other six eggs so much as move. Really worried they aren't going to make it. Also, does anyone know what colors these might be? Each one is different.

    Day 16 are these pips?!

Wanted to share my babies! The brown egg is really going at it!

    Day 16 are these pips?!

OKay, I'll try to. No, it's totally dry. I've been lifting the lid pretty frequently to air out the moisture. I was worried it would affect the temp, but that seems pretty stable.

    Day 16 are these pips?!

Should I keep working to lower it, or let it be?

    Day 16 are these pips?!

So there are a bunch of pips and one egg has like three in a row. I assume that means it's zipping? But now I'm kinda freaking out because the humidity is going nuts. There is NO water in there, yet the incubator is hitting 87% humidity. I keep lifting the lid for a sec to let some air out. The...

Temp going up in Coturnix quail lockdown, day 18!

Oh you know what, it's almost the same but mine is a good bit smaller. I would totally just drill a hole in it. Mine looks like a small version of yours, but with a little hole on top. It seems to help a lot! Edit: Apparently that's a bad idea. Don't listen to me!
