    Missing Ducklings, Snake??

I still have 7 ducklings this morning but I turned mama and babies out into the big chicken yard. That way, they aren't just "sitting ducks"! :) I worried about the chickens picking on them but mama has proven to be pretty vicious. They chickens seem to be steering clear of her. On another...

    Missing Ducklings, Snake??

I have a Muscovy mama who hatched out 9 babies. My males were trying to kill the babies so I locked mama and babies in a coop in the barn. I count the ducklings every morning and night. Yesterday morning there were only 8 ducklings. 1 had disappeared without a trace. This morning I am down...

    Need photos of chickens roosting!

This is my sweet EE, Marcy. The bar she is on isn't perfectly horizontal, but pretty close. :)

    Are these girls lavender?

Well, I was unsuccessful at hatching in the incubator. Everything was going great until the last few days. Maybe the humidity was too high. I added water for "lock down" and on top of the humid weather we were having, I think it was just too much. On a brighter note, one of my muscovy hens...

    Are these girls lavender?

Yes, lilac makes sense. That would explain the brownish/champagne undertones. I took a few more pictures this evening.

    Are these girls lavender?

They are really beautiful and not exactly like anything I found on google. Let's hope I can hatch some babies. I'm wondering what I'll get out of chocolate & lavender. Wish me luck!

    Are these girls lavender?

Yes, the pigs keep us hopping! I thought blue too but in lower light some feathers have a champagne look to them. Hopefully I can get some better pictures later.

    Are these girls lavender?

Thank you! They are my first Muscovies and I just love them. They are so friendly and love to be around people. I collected and set 21 eggs in the incubator. I would love to let them hatch on their own, but my pigs steal the eggs. I have to stand guard over them while they are laying! Lol

    Are these girls lavender?

I have a beautiful little flock of Muscovy ducks and I'm wondering what color these girls are for sure. From what I've seen online, I'm thinking lavender.

    Just to brighten your Monday!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! My husband had the Musicians of Bremen on video disk (whatever that is) when he was a kid. I have listened to him and his brothers quote T.R. for years. One day I decided to look it up on youtube. I was glad I did, it is hilarious!

    Just to brighten your Monday!

This little video always brings a smile to my face and at about the 3:50 point you will hear the inspiration for my screen name. It's The Musicians of Bremen done by Jim Henson of the Muppets. It came out in the early 70's, I believe. It's really cute, I hope y'all enjoy it! T.R. is a hoot!

    Small and lethargic baby chick

Last night I added some electrolyte to the water and also gave them some cooked scrambled egg. They all went crazy for it, even the tiny chick. Each time I go out to check on the babies, I think I am going to find that one dead. For now, she seems to be doing better. I'll keep my fingers...

    Small and lethargic baby chick

I have a powdered electrolyte supplement for livestock. I'll try mixing up some and giving it to the chick. Thank y'all for the suggestion.

    Small and lethargic baby chick

I received 30 baby chicks in the mail on Thursday. All are alive, active and healthy except for 1. It is less than half the size of the others and very lethargic. I put it in front of the food and water but I've never actually seen it eat or drink. I know it must have, just never seen it...

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'll have to learn how to use all of the animated emoji's. So cute!

    Ameraucana or EE?

I might try those suggestions. I have a place where I can separate the roosters into their own pen, but they would still be in view of the hens. Do the hens absolutely have to be out of sight for this to work?
