I just noticed today one of my girls has this lump showing in her ear. It’s solid, not soft at all and takes up her whole ear. I’ve previously noticed in the last few months her face has always seemed a little bit pale, and the area where the ears were on both sides has seemed to stick out a...
My Pekin bantams are always the friendliest of my chickens! Some of them will run over to you when you walk outside and others jump up on your lap if they have the chance, happy for a scratch under their chin or even on their backs sometimes. Of course there are some who aren’t like that, and...
Hi everyone. I have a Wyandotte hen we hatched from eggs bought from a breeder. She was supposed to be a gold wyandotte but her colouring is more a light orangy feather colour with a more silver/grey lacing rather than black (it might be a little hard to see this in the pictures). Is there a...
Oh no. I really hope he doesn’t have a respiratory disease. He hadn’t been quarantined. During the day they are all in the yard together. Is there any chance he might just have a cold?
An no, I’m in Australia, not the US.
A bantam frizzle rooster we got about 4 days ago has a runny nose and sometimes wheezes when he is breathing. The discharge from the nose is clear and their isn’t much of it, but two days ago his nose was really blocked and I had to clear it for him. All the other chooks we have (Pekin Bantams)...
We have Pekin Bantams and we have used 5 different hens altogether for hatching chicks. Personally, we found they were amazing broody hens that took really good care of the eggs and great mothers with the chicks. I would definitely recommend them
We have 2 Pekin hens that hatched some of their own chicks. When they were in the routine of laying, one of them would lay on average 5-6 eggs a week. The other was not as reliable with about 4 a week. This was when they were in the middle of their laying season though. Ours only lay through...
Thanks for the reply. I have some smooth feathered Pekin Bantam hens, so would it be safe to breed him with them even if his frizzling ends up frazzled/curly?
We recently got a bantam frizzle but I’m not sure what breed he is. Any guesses?? Also is there a chance he might be frazzled/curly? His feathers aren’t soft at all, they’re almost hard sometimes.
So, we have purebred Pekin Bantam hens and are about to get a frizzle cross rooster. If we breed them, will the chicks have frizzle feathers like the rooster or normal, smooth feathers like the hens?
