It really depends on the quail itself, I find that the female buttons are more comfortable with petting. I have a male button that lets me scratch his chin and cheeks but not pet haha. But you can tame them by just spending a lot of time with them. It takes a lot of patience though, a few weeks...
I suggest taking some pictures and posting them on this forum if you are really curious. There are a lot of people who might be able to ID your buttons if they see the colors and help you out :D
Nope, button eggs take up a lot of room in those hens, just laying one is very tiring. I've never encountered more than one egg a day with mine, but I'm curious if someone owns one that does this (poor hen!)
Hey its awesome to hear that you rescued those quails! I use blue surgical cloth that hospitals toss away because they aren't 100% sterile (but unused, still in their unopened packaging). The cloth is waterproof, easy to cut, and makes it easy to clean up. I sprinkle some wood chips over them...
Ah, sadly he had just passed away peacefully in his sleep. Rest in peace you handsome birb! Nothing but mealworm and seed heaven from now on. Thank you for your lovely messages :D
Yeah I thought so. I put on a soft heat lamp, covered up his cage so its dim, and now he's resting on his felted tissue box nest with his stuffed ducky so he's very calm now.
Hello, one of my mature (3 years) indoor-raised male buttons have started to act very strangely. There is a high chance that he's passing on peacefully right now, but he also shows symptoms of sickness. He has not moved from his sleeping spots for hours at a time, or eaten or drank today. I've...
Hello, I'm not sure if you raise your quails indoors or outdoors, but I can recommend using a veil fabric as a ceiling for a cage if it's indoors! It's soft and very flexible so if a quail jumps the veil will just stretch slowly before letting them down instead slamming on a hard, coated net. It...
Hey Dovetail! If you live in California around the bay area, I may be able to supply you one! I've been looking to re-home my male buttons since my female passed away. I can help with you with other button quail drama and even give you some supplies if you are able to accept :D
Hey I'm pretty inexperienced but I do have a picture of my button when he was a chick maybe it'll help? The two chick pictures are the black/red male. I got the tan/black female one as an adult so I don't have any pics of her as a chick. I think two of your buttons look like they have the same...
Oh man Pumpkin looks so cute! I've got a button named Quincy with the same colors. I'm really fascinated by that cozy picture of him haha I can't get Quincy to settle down for more than a few seconds! Do you have any tips on getting buttons to be more friendly? My button acts like a giddy but...
Aw thank you so much, it means a lot! Haha yeah it was weird to see just him sitting on the eggs, the female one was actually scared of the chicks! Boston also has pure white wings along with the white bib, its just not in the picture :)
Hello, I'm looking to re-home the two healthy adult male button quails that I have raised in the Bay Area (California).
Recently, one of my females have passed away, leaving one of my males lonely. I have to go to college next year and I need help to give these guys a new home!
They have been...

Thank you so much for your concern! I'll definitely try out the pumpkin seeds :D I'll also get her some mealworms as well since I haven't fed her some for a few weeks (it's been a busy month for me!). Her poo has improving from yesterday, this time it's a natural color, but with lots of water...
Ah yes Iv'e looked into this article as well. I'm not sure if my quail has it, as she is eating lots and has had this condition for several days now. I don't have easy access to antibiotics unfortunately, and I would like to look into her sickness very intensely before buying any. Thank you so...
