Hi! I’m looking to give my baby chicks some treats, they’re about four weeks old. They’re being raised in the brooder inside so they haven’t gotten any grit yet, we’re waiting till about 8 weeks. Until then, is there anything they can have that they won’t need grit for? Thanks!
The only time she really lays down during the day is to dust bathe. She roosts on a high perch at night. She’s about finished with her treatment, we have her foot wrapped just to be cautious.
Hi all. Our pet Rhode Island Red has red, peeling skin on her belly. It’s flaking and crusty. The feathers on her belly seem to be matted too. the skin and feathers everywhere else seem to be ok. She’s eating, drinking, and acting ok. Ideas on what this could be and how to help? Nothing big has...
Her droppings and her crop are normal. She’s so picky, we’ve tried tuna, chicken, eggs, but we haven’t tried dog food. She’s not eating a lot of her regular food and the only thing she’s really going for is sunflower seeds and mixed treat grains.
She’s about two years old and hasn’t layed in months. The vet didn’t take an x ray but was feeling around and that’s when he popped it and said it was out of joint and felt it pop back in. Since then she’s been walking so much better. He said it was possible another hen may have jumped on her...
Hi all. I have a pet chicken (Buff Orpington) who’s been sick on and off. She’s been having a hard time keeping her balance and has little to no appetite. She’s been vaccinated for marek's and been checked for parasites but doesn’t have any. This last vet visit the vet popped her sacrum and said...
Hi all. I'm thinking about adding a Black Copper Maran and an Oliver Egger to my flock. I have a Blue Maran, but I read that Black Copper Marans aren't heat hardy. I live in West Tn, Zone 7. Is there any reason a Black Copper Maran would be any less heat hardy than a Blue Copper Maran? I keep...
This is only happening when they drink their water, was it the same for your flock? I’m glad yours are all ok! Is VetRx and nutridrench something you need to have a vet prescribe to you? Or is it something you can give regularly to give them an extra boost even when they’re feeling fine? We’re...
They’re all acting normally, all eating and drinking fine, they’re all running around like normal and playing with their enrichment activity toys, they’re not acting droopy. I’m hoping it’s just the weather, and that it will pass soon! Thank you!
Hi everyone, I need advice, I'm worried about my girls. I have a small flock of seven hens, all of different varieties, Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Reds, Easter Eggers, and Speckled Sussex they're coming up on a year old in April (we enjoy their eggs, and they’re our pets only) they are all...
We currently have a pre-fab coop from TSC and we are praying it stays up thru winter! Looking at sheds that we can convert to a nice coop- wondering thoughts on wood vs the plastic ones or vinyl siding? Would love to see pictures of converted sheds. We are on a tight budget but want to go as...
