I got my drake just a day ago, but he is 1 year old. I do want to get him a friend, but I am trying to get set up better.

Hi everyone, I would love some info. I am new to chickens and ducks. I got a Pekin drake and he is 1 year old. My question is, how long should I keep him in his pen before letting him out during the day. We have a large pond on our property and I want to let him go to it.
