This morning I caught three hens attacking a 1-month-old kitten. The kitten seemed okay physically, just traumatized.

This us the first one in five years of owning chickens. I've read that the gen can be treated, but I have no idea which one laid it. None of them are acting unusual. I keep their feed and water clean and add vitamin supplements to their water.

Our girls are free range sunrise to sunset on 2.5 acres with fields on three sides. I have bird feeders and the girls eat anything that the yard birds spill onto the ground. I will occasionally toss them some dried mealworms as well as seedless grapes (their favorite!) and kitchen scraps. I love...

Our chicks are four weeks old now and we are talking about taking the outside when it (finally) warms up here. What temps do you all recommend for chicks to be outside?

So sorry to hear this. We, too, had lost a hen to a hawk in the past, and she was my favorite. We'v also lost one on the road, and our only rooster to a possum. It sucks, I know.
