Hello!
One of my hens just started laying eggs! However...I can't tell who it is. I'm unfamiliar with both the breeds, either of which I am suspecting is the layer, and am wondering if I can get some help possibly identifying!
I've gotten three eggs so far - one a day. It is tan/brown in...
Hello!
I'm curious, if even possible, what the offspring from a red old English Bantam rooster and a silver pencil-laced wyandotte bantam hen would look like?
Would they have a mix in feather looks, or would it just go one way or another? I'm curious as to just what they'd look like! Pictures...
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this! He is so sweet, I couldn't call him. But I will give him the best life possible! I swear he has the body of a turkey though, impossible to get a good grip on them, much less with how heavy they are!
Yes, he free ranges every day. I make him walk and work for his food, in which I feed in strict amounts (rather than just free feeding). He is not on layer feed either. I try to give him more vegetables and leafy greens, so absolutely no mealworms or other fattening treats.
Yes, this is correct. The human sized door is on the side of the coop, outside of the run. So I would have to pick him up and carry him around the coop and run, to get him in. I'm definitely going to get a dog house for him, and I will put some ventalation holes in the sides for him.
Thank you for these kind words, as well. He is my chicken, and like you said, only I know how his life truly is. Some of these people were so quick to judge. And it just sucks when I was simply asking for help to better my animal's life and then a bunch of people are calling me cruel, inhumane...
Thank you for these kind words. I did not mean to cause such a ruckus, I'm just trying my best to give him a great life. I was just wondering coop ideas and so many jumped on me, which kind of sucks. So, I appreciate your words, honestly.
He is honestly the sweetest chicken I've ever owned and...
Thank you for these kind words.
At the moment he is still living a really great life. He can walk and even run, he can eat and drink by himself - he is living a pretty normal life. If there comes to a point where he cannot walk anymore, then yes, I will put him down. I'm not going to be cruel...
Sorry, but no. I cannot cull him, nor send him off to his death by someone else. I wouldn't be able to kill any of my animals (unless it was absolutely necessary, say like after a savage animal attack).
It's very sad, but I'm very glad that you told me what he was. Since then, I have learned so much on how to own and treat broiler birds; primarily how to give them the longest and best life possible. I will spoil him up until the end (and by that I mean making him work and exercise for his...
Thank you for the kind words. :hugs I want to make his life special, since it will most likely be very short. He has two cochin girlfriends that I will put with him at night, so he isn't lonely anymore.
