Thank you for the kind words. That is understandable. I couldn't kill him either. A rabbit hutch gives him the space he needs. I won't put him by himself I would give him a couple friends. He is blessed to have you as his person.
Good idea! Thanks! What about a dog house with cinder blocks under it so he's off the ground a bit.
It's very sad, but I'm very glad that you told me what he was. Since then, I have learned so much on how to own and treat broiler birds; primarily how to give them the longest and best life possible. I will spoil him up until the end (and by that I mean making him work and exercise for his food). Having him is definitely a mind-opener to how greedy people can be. It is so very selfish to create an organism that can't even live more than a year before that cannot walk or have a heart attack. I'm so sad because he has easily become my absolute favorite, and I know that his life is already more than half way over. This is so sad... I was the person who told you he was a Cornish, it is so sad that we would ever try to breed a bird that cannot even sustain life! WHY. people and their SELFISH GREEDY NATURE![]()
Sorry, but no. I cannot cull him, nor send him off to his death by someone else. I wouldn't be able to kill any of my animals (unless it was absolutely necessary, say like after a savage animal attack).I'm with HC on this. Time to start thinking of him as a turkey and Thanksgiving came early this year!
Thank you for these kind words.@kinkachy000 I understand that your Cornish cross is a pet, as was my pullet Eleanor. If you feel that his quality of life is starting to diminish then you should have a vet put him to sleep.
