    Fence height

I installed a 4 foot fence and some of my chickens (leghorn, Rhode Island Red) flew out and were killed by my dog. In retrospect I wish I would have gone 5 feet. The chickens that are left (dominique, Campine and Australorp) seem to be content staying in the fence. I also started throwing them...

I have 6 chickens, all different breeds, and only 2 are laying eggs

    Heat Lamp or Heating Plate?

Since you all have such good heat advice.......I’ve got a couple of other starter questions. Any particular brand of starter food anyone had good success with? Also what should I use for the floor...pine shavings? Thanks again.

    Heat Lamp or Heating Plate?

I’m usually a penny pincher as well, but when it comes to any type of tools or supplies I usually make the investment. It’s cheaper in the long run.

    Heat Lamp or Heating Plate?

I’m setting up a brooder for my first chickens and would like some advice on using a lamp or a heating plate. The heating plate looks easier to use and more convenient. Any advice is very welcomed. Thanks.
