They looked the same when they were chicks, that’s why I was surprised when she started getting darker than the other one. I’m not worried about it, she’s still pretty.
I got 4 chicks about 2 months ago. I was told it was 2 barred rocks and 2 buff Orpington. Well the 2 are definitely barred rocks and 1 is definitely a buff Orpington. But one of them is dark brown and I’m not sure what she is. Can anyone tell me?
I got chicks about a year ago. I had 6 hens and then a friend gave me a bantam rooster. Unfortunately after a year of them free ranging 5 of them got killed. 2 of them got killed by a wild cat (I’m almost positive) and the rooster and other 2 went missing. We searched everywhere for them with no...
I’m going to run to tractor supply to get some electrolytes for the water. Is there a certain kind to get? And is it okay for all of the hens to drink it with it in the water?
Her vent looks fine. She’s not panting or holding her wings away from her body. Her crop felt like it could be a little lumpy but I’m not 100% sure how it normally feels. She’s not interested in food but she’s still drinking.
I’ve had chickens for a little over 6 months. This is the first time one has ever acted weird. We went out to the coop and one of our isa Browns was just laying there. Not running around like usual. And her tail feathers are down when usually they are up. I’m not sure what to do or what could be...
My rooster is a d'Uccles Bantam. A friend of mine gave him to us a little over a month ago. I’ll post a picture of him. Do I just mark her eggs with a sharpie? And I have a dog pen that we used to use when my dog was a puppy or I have a big tote I used when they were chicks. Should I move her to...
She’s sitting on 12 eggs! Some are white but the other ones are brown from the Isa browns we have. Is it normal for her to “steal” their eggs and lay on them too?
I will hatch if that’s what’s going on. Lol. How long will she get off of the nest to eat and get water? I just came in the run and she was on the eggs (day 4) and I brought fresh food and water and she got off the nest to eat and drink.
I have 6 hens and 1 rooster. I have 3 isa Browns and 3 white leghorns. For the last 3 days one of the leghorns have been laying on eggs and hasn’t moved! This is my first time with chickens so I have no clue what my next step is. What do I do? Lol.
I have 6 hens and I just recently got a rooster and now my kids are freaking out about eating the eggs because they say we’re going to crack one and a baby chick is going to be in one. We collect the eggs everyday so I don’t think that would be a problem. But today I was making them breakfast...
I have 7 chickens (3 isa Browns and 3 white leghorns) I also have a bantam rooster. The 3 isa Browns are 5 months and they are seriously the sweetest chickens ever! They let us hold them, pet them, they jump up on us and just hang out. But the 3 white leghorns are 4.5 months and they aren’t...
My chickens started laying around July 10, we had 3 that were laying and we would get 2 a day pretty much. On July 20 a friend of mine gave me a bantam rooster and now my chickens aren’t laying. I have 3 isa Browns who are 5 months and 3 white leghorns who are 4.5 months. The white leghorns...
