Am I the only one slightly pissed off at my chicks that they are being perfectly normal and waiting til day 21 to hatch? Seeing all these day 19 chicks is making me want mine to hatch:barnie
22 of 24 made it to lockdown today, the other 2 were clear so things are looking good, though I do have one whose air cell totally disappeared like gone .... no idea at all
He’s still partying though
I have them on lockdown now so I am not going to mess with that. I wasn’t expecting to have anything weird so I didn’t have my camera etc there when I candled and I didn’t want to have them out for longer than necessary. I checked every where on that egg and there was no air cell....so weird
Hello all
I have 22 eggs in the incubator set to hatch Sat so I just put them all into lockdown doing a quick candle first to ensure everyone was still looking good. 21 of the 22 were right on track, the 22nd one seems to have lost his air cell. I mean it is no where in there just gone. He...
Hello @The Farmers' Daughter, I am sure things are the status quo here. I am south of Lindsay and have lived here my entire life.
The eggs in the bator came from a woman nearby, she has americauna’s ( real ones not EE’s) Orpington and Marans so they will either be pure of those breeds or mixes...
Hello all
Thought I would drop in a say hi again as it’s been a couple years since I have checked in with the Canuck thread.
I can be found in the Kawartha Lakes and currently have about 20 ladies and 3 gentlemen. They are a collection of barn yards mix, Americauna’s, BCM, Lavender Orp, one...

Does that even make sense?..lol
A woman on my local Facebook chicken lovers group posted these pictures yesterday. She had a broody hen who successfully hatched out most of her clutch and included in that clutch was conjoined chick of sorts. When she found it it was dead but it appears that it managed to pip and zip all by...
My chicks will be in a non insulated shed/kennel with a MHP and maybe a heat lamp depending on weather ( in Ontario so it can get quite cold) but I will start introducing them to outside slowly depending on the weather and then they should be OK outside on their own when they are fully...
Congratulations, I am so glad that you have a baby chick, it can be so nerve wracking when they are late but you got rewarded with a beautiful little peeper!!
I currently have 14 hatched today and 4-5 more pipped so I am going to be swimming in baby peepers soon
Don’t give up hope yet, I have had one hatch on day 25. If there is still movement then things are still good. With an internal pop you can see the beak in the air cell at the big end of the egg. It can be up to 24 hours after an internal pop that you see an external one.
I find it gets...
