Thanks for the responses. I didn't notice any blood or scabbing. She walks with her shoulders hunched. She did have a small single comb that was light pink, now nothing. The small feathers around the comb are standing up straight. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
Hi, I have 3 adult hens and 3 young hens not laying yet. The young ones are about 22 weeks give or take a week or two. I've had them 12 weeks. I was away for a week and when I returned one of the young ones was coughing, sounds almost like a small dog barking. Tonight when I was putting them...
True no withdrawl time, it just depends if you want to eat eggs that the host has been treated with antibiotics. The time wait is to clear the meds out of the chicken's system.
Hi, we had to treat our flock with Corid as well. It is recommended that you wait 72 hours after treatment is stopped to eat the eggs. We waited almost 10 days to be on the safe side! I read that Odo ban will clean and disinfect the coop, but that bleach doesn't disinfect it.
Hi, thank you! Well our sick lady is hanging in there. No more diarrhea, but she did loose the black part of her comb and it is slowly turning black from the bottom up.
I have not introduced any new birds to our flock. She is 1 of the last 2 we added last summer. We feed them organic omega...
Hi all,
I'm checking in to see if anyone is experiencing the symptoms of the smeared poop on their ladies? We lost 1, 3 weeks ago, 1 is pretty ill. She eats and drinks, but she has trouble walking. She doesn't sleep on the perch. She is still laying eggs. Her comb is turning black at the...
Hi, all the reading I read suggested that it wasn't Coccidiosis because she was an older bird. I cleaned all the blood without taking pictures. My son in law handled her and said she had blood on her abdomen, could be from pooping and laying in it, I guess. One of my Blue Coppers has the same...
We lost the older lady today. I noticed some red poop in the coop, not sure who it is from so all remaining 5 ladies will be treated with Corid. Hopefully that will save our flock!
Thank you both for your advice! The older hen wouldn't come out of the coop this morning. Until this morning she was eating and drinking just fine. The younger girl is eating and walking normally yesterday, but this morning walking on her knee on just her right leg. I will give them a close...
thanks, hard to tell what the poop is like, she has lots on her bottom. I presume liquid and that is why it is stuck to her feathers. Her nostrils are good and dry. She seems to be propping herself up whenever she can.
Her crop feels ok. She looks very plump, but when I checked her crop I could feel that there isn't a lot of meat on her bones. I thought it was just old age, since I really don't know how old she is I adopted her, but when one of the young ones started with the symptoms I got nervous.
Hi I'm relatively new to chickens (3yrs) and have 6 ladies. Barred Plymouth, Comet, Leghorn, Golden Lace Wyandotte, and 2 Blue Copper Marans. We love them! We've built them a beautiful coop! Our city only allows 5 ladies, wish we could have more!
I have 6 ladies, 5 2yrs and younger, 1 who is about 4-5 yrs old. The older lady hasn't laid eggs in about a year. she has been having trouble walking for the last few days. She can take a few steps and then collapses. She has poop all down her bottom (for awhile now). She is hunched over...
