Hi there, we're still around. We dont have any birds anymore as our living situation has changed and we were forced to find a safe home for them. We feel it everyday though.
Hopefully in the future we will be in the position where we could start new or get them back!
We have not had any luck finding a good home as of yet.
The biggest issue seems to be that no one wants to take on a Guinea.
We did have one individual show interest but we quickly found his intentions for them were something what we want to stay clear of.
My fiance and I have have 1 male Guinea Fowl named Piper and 2 hens (Chickens) named Rusty and Rudy that she and I hand raised.
We find ourselves in a situation where we have to move and, very unfortunately, we wont be able to take them as we will no longer be in a suitable area for them to...
Well we have to a certain degree yes, once feathers start flying I stop them.
Should i maybe then them have at it a little longer?
Just sucks to see this pair fight honestly.
I hope we are posting this in the right place?
However my issue is that my 2 guineas ,who are a mated pair, are fighting after being split up due to my Males aggression toward the hatched chicks. (My hen's hatch had failed and we relaced them with chicken eggs as we wanted a few chickens)...
I apologize for taking so long to respond we've had some things come up.
Anyways with the 2 remaining chicks we have everybody's a big happy (If not odd) little family for the most part.
Echo has mothered these chicks very well considering being a Guinea haha
As for Piper, After acclimating...
Quick update and another question honestly.
Four chicks have hatched from the chicken eggs under her. And she's actually happily mothering them! I'm really happy to see however her mate, Piper, will instantly attack them the moment one of them comes out from under her causing her to fight with...
Oh wow. Echo is incredibly docile and gentle so I can't imagine her harming chicks or keets but hey you never know and that's a great thing to keep in mind thank you!
Also I did have her separated from the nesting area for about 3 days I have a slide partition on one side of my Coop where I...
Hi all,
So my one of my Guineas has been broody for about 45 or so days.
Her own eggs, which numbered around 16, had all failed due to her inexperience I'm assuming. :idunno
I've tried to break her from it a couple times with no success. I've tried lowering to body temperature and cutting her...
So I have some extremely tame guinea hens. The most tame of them being my girl Echo. She's extremely comfortable with me and does not mind me near her while she is on her nest. So monitoring has been easy.
Echo has currently been on her eggs for 29 days if not 30 days.
I've never let any of my...
I got him to drink a good amount of water. Luckily he's a cuddle bug so handling him is never an issue.
A vet I spoke to suggested I give him a little bit of apple cider vinegar with the water and he has perked up a lot and is being more active. Still a bit sluggish but has really improved...
Piper is a bit over 5 months old.
Vent area is clean and clear.
His poop is liquidy, clear, and had an almost greenish color in it.
Crop feels to be empty and i havent seen hit eat alt all today. I offered him treats earlier to see if he would take them. He lethargically pecked at them but didnt...
