KZ- I ordered my eggs off of eBay as well. I haven't had much luck in the past with hatching shipped eggs as my post office usually does a number on them. These eggs arrived all intact. I normally hatch my EE eggs from my own chickens with no problems, but last summer we had what appeared to be...

Just picked up these chicks from Tractor Supply and employees were unable to tell me what breed they were. They were all in the straight run container with no other info. Any ideas? 11 of them look similar, and there is 1 chick that is much darker with some brown on its head (picture 3 towards...
Thanks everyone! The egg was marked partridge. I have been wanting silkies forever and finally took the plunge an ordered eggs from another BYC member. I really would like to get more eggs to hatch because I can't have just one I cannot get over how cute it is!
I just hatched my first silkie. I purchased 8 eggs and this little guy was the only one to hatch. The post office did quite a number on my shipment. I hatched out several of my own EE eggs, so my silkie has buddies.
I ordered 10 EE's from Ideal and received 2 white, one rooster and one hen. The white hen, Betty White, is the sweetest one out of them all!
Here is Betty...

I just finished my first hatch at the beginning of the week. I used a brinsea octagon eco and had 15/16 hatch. After reading so many stories of hatches gone wrong, I consider myself very lucky for having so many hatch on my first try.
Forgot to add that they were eggs from my own birds.
Hi, from TX. I moved here about 4 years ago from Marietta, GA. I hope you enjoy this site, there is a lot of very helpful information to be found here.
I work for a business that distributes food grade DE (perma-guard). We have it starting at $3.80 for a 3qt bag up to $22.05 for 50lb bag. If you are interested in having some shipped, send me your zip code and I will find out what it would cost. It would be shipping from TX.
I finished out my 1st hatch with 15/16. Disinfected the incubator and loaded it back up with 27 of my own EE eggs. Anyone else set eggs today? I would love to compare progress.
I now have 10 dry and fluffy, 4 newly hatched still in the bator, 1 still working its way out of the egg, and 1 egg that isn't doing much of anything...
Between 6am and 10:30am five little chicks popped out of their shells. I am waiting on 11 more and I see external pips on at least 9 of them. Picture quality is terrible from my cell phone...taken in my closet.
Edited to add some dry and fluffy pics.
I know how you feel marymac, I can take my eyes off the incubator. I have been able to manage keeping my hands off it. I keep thinking I am seeing a few eggs wiggle, but then I am not sure it isn't my eyes just playing tricks on me
