    I would go with ancona,because they are laying machines and are great show birds.The rose combed variety are least likely to have frost-bite.

    Got some La Fleche/Ancona crosses around four months old,and now just hatched blue/gray "americauna" chicks,whose fathered by my La Fleche also.Pics are of the former,will get other pics on soon.Hope to cross breed both sets to each other, wow!

    I would go with an ancona roo(high egg producers)or a silver spangled hamburg.There would be some interesting,colorful cross breeds.

    I would agree it depends on the bird.But silkie and cochins are mellow(NOT a FAN).I have Orloff and Kraienkoppe roo's that are quite mellow also.

    How do you keep hatched chicks from climbing all over unhatched eggs?

    I went with the egg carton idea also.Go to a local resturant as they get there bulk eggs boxed with layers on egg cartons in between,each holds around thirty or so eggs.

    looks like a ancona,minorca to me,or another of the mediteranian breeds.Are the nostrils holes large and cavernous?

    Hey everyone,my 15 month old orloff trio of hens are producing 10 to 14 eggs weekly.Is this normal laying for this breed?The incubator has a good ratio of orloff eggs when the others start hatching again.
