    That's how I walk out to the coop/run at night except swinging a flashlight instead of hiking pole. Started when I came within 1" of face planting into a 3 ft wide orb weaver web with the weaver dead center.

    Thats why when I go out to close in the chickens at night, I wave my flashlight up and down in front of me. I came about an inch away from face planting an orb weaver web with her right in the middle of it. The light reflected on it just in the nick of time. I would have freaked...

    I'll check later for feathers. They are in a secure coop and run (run = 9'x21', coop 6'x8' w/5 nest boxes) No signs of any shells or wet spots. I did find 2 eggs yesterday. Thank you for the info, I'll see if it continues.

    I have 2 general age groups in a flock of 10 layers. One group is up there at 5 to 7 yrs old. The other group is from May 2024 so 1yr 4 mos. The older ones were still laying up to some mos back but few and far between but I was getting almost 2 to 4 eggs every day from the younger ones. Now...

    Here's #2. I picked what a hoped would be an olive egger and a blue red laced Wyandotte. One turned out to be a Cream Legbar Rooster. This was the other one. Is it the Wyandotte?

    The first one was in the bin of silkies. I picked out what I thought might be a frizzled silkie. However, to me she looks like a frizzled cochin.

    Thanks to all. looks like I may have a Crested Legbar Roo to rehome. Anybody in NJ interested? What age do Roosters start mating? Maybe I can get some fertile eggs before rehoming (I have a Cream Legbar hen)
