The top 4-5” of 3 sides have screens covering them. We stapled them from the inside and outside so they can’t be pushed in. Hopefully that’s plenty? I was going to cover the vents last night since it’s still a little chilly but decided not to. They were good!!
I do. And it makes my phone go off if there’s any motion detected. I doubt anything can get in, but if something is snooping around, I’ll know!
Fingers crossed they’ll be safe! I put a good 3” of pine shavings in their house. They should be warm enough between the 4 of them I’d think.
Thanks! Ducks are in and camera is on them. I sure hope they’ll survive the night!
Lol it’s a Camaro... however my husband wishes it was a Monte Carlo!!
We’re finishing this up now. Just have to put the front in & we’re going to cover some of the ventilation tonight since it’s still kind of chilly at night.
lol I wouldn’t say they’re too spoiled... they get mad when they have to come in at night for bed!! I’m finally “cutting the cord” and letting them be outside
So, this will be the first night my 3+wk old Cayuga ducklings will be outside. The lowest it’s supposed to be this week at night is 53°. Do they need a heat lamp? Or will pine shavings be good enough? They’re starting to get their tail feathers in and you can tell the rest of them are starting...
Hi! :frow I just wanted to drop a few pictures of my babies!
My Cayugas are now 3.5 weeks old and I swear they grow overnight! My dogs love watching them, especially this one (Diesel). They looooove spending time outside and cannot WAIT for their duck house to be done!
I hope everyone...
Huh! I was wondering if it was just my TSC! They always ask if I want it bagged if I have smaller items that would fit in one. No other store ever asks if I want something bagged or not, they just immediately start bagging everything. Interesting that this is all TSCs!
The lows for the next week are anywhere from 42°F - 62°F. I can’t part with my babies right now. They just seem to young to be outside, maybe in a couple more weeks when they’re about a month old? It will be a little warmer then, too.
My 13 day old Cayuga ducklings had their first adventure outside today! The weather has been beautiful here this past week that I’ve even been able to shut off their heat lamp completely! (Yes I watch them to make sure they’re comfortable.) I’m starting to wonder if they can be put outside...
Has anyone else used this Purina Premium Duck Feed Pellets on their days-old ducklings? I’m just curious if it’s “good enough” or if I should get something else? It says it has 27.27mg/lb of Niacin and is 19% protein. (We smash it up into crumbles so they can eat it right now.) Does this seem...
Thanks! I directed my husband on how to put the brooder together for me! :D
I was actually curious if putting a color on their feathers would trigger pecking from the others. And I’m scared the leg bands would get too tight too quick with how quick babies grow. Hm... maybe I’ll just wait to...
They are doing really well!! Messy like ducklings are, but way too cute to care about it. My 7 yo daughter read them a book about tadpoles the first night :love.
I was going to ask a couple questions, maybe I should make a new post about it :idunno... but it is normal for them to try to eat...
I love it!! :lau I had mine on my desk for a couple hours and then I moved it to the break room. For a little while I was worried about getting a surprise visit from the CEO!
I got my babies this morning!!! I had to setup a make-shift brooder at work so they could be with me here :D But they’re eating, drinking, pooping, & sleeping!! :celebrate
So cute!!!! They look like they’re growing big already!
I checked this morning and they are in at my local post office! Now I need to drop my daughter off at school and pick up the babies!
I have a question... what kind of bedding did you use in your brooder? Do you switch to a different type...
