Since you said you only need two times the size of the tractor - doesn't that mean you would just move it between two spots? How often would you move it then, to keep grass from being killed?

    Pictures of your mixes?

OH!! Thank you! An image of one of those is what made me want to breed chickens, period. But I didn't know what breed it was. My best guess was a Silver Laced Wyandotte, but it was definitely this. Moving to the top of my list to find!

    What defines a good rooster?

I did read that on another thread! I think I'm going to order a couple of assorted chicks (hopefully all hens) for my first batch.. make sure I don't hate taking care of them.. then hopefully eventually get one/two Roosters (if the collars work well enough) and start dabbling in very small...

    What defines a good rooster?

Are yours close to the hens, like they can see and hear them and they are still ok? Because if necessary I might have the option of keeping a 2-3 roosters in a cock-flock with a family member who has no hens.. and just borrow them from time to time for breeding. Not ideal as it is imposing on...

    What defines a good rooster?

Personal preference.. And if I get more than one rooster, I want to control which one breeds with which hen... But I'll have to come up with something else if it would be bad to have them alone, that's why I asked.

    What defines a good rooster?

Random question.. do Roosters suffer if they are kept separate from hens? I want to breed some birds but only when I choose.. I do not want fertile eggs in between, as much as possible. Will they be okay if they are close, but barred off?

    Pictures of your mixes?

I'm really interested to see any pictures you guys have of cool or wonky crosses that you got? I plan on mixing different pretty birds for fun just to see what happens. Does anyone else do this? Do your mixes so far take after mostly one parent, or do they turn into a combination of both? Can...

Where to get chickens processed in MO

I know this is old, but I have the same question.. I'm in Kansas City and wanting to start with chickens in a suburban area. I know I will have roosters to get rid of one way or another...
