that is your basic wild goose chick. he/she will grow very fast. I think the right thing to do is bring it to a local park where geese are known to be active and see if you can get a mama with chicks to accept him in the group. Geese like ducks are very social. It will not be happy as a pet...
YES.... Yes it is. They get so pissed off when the mallard can fly outside the pen and they are left looking through the chicken-wire at him having the run of the yard.
I have had a mallard for 1.5 years now. he can fly very well but stays in the yard. he has 2 pekin ducks that he grew up with that cant really fly so they may tend to keep him where he is.
I need female ducks. at least 2. Im in Salisbury Maryland and could meet halfway. can you help me? My male ducks lost the females to a predictor and they are way to horny. they are trying to mount my chickens :(
Hello Salisbury!!! I am also on the eastern shore in Salisbury MD. We have 3 chickens and 5 ducks. We had 6 chickens but we keep loosing hens to the local Fox Population. Need to rebuild the run to prevent predators. We have one broody hen that wont leave the nest but no rooster here so we...
yes its ok :) If ducks are not with other ducks they assume they are the same as whomever they spend the most time with. Your dog looks like he has accepted being mama duck for now.
I have the same issue however we got rid of the rooster because he was chasing my 7 year old daughter around the yard as well. My hens are super mean to my 5 ducks. Ducks and chickens just dont get along. :)
Noah makes some good points I forgot about. Heat lamp is important when they are babies. We ask only because we want your baby to be happy and healthy. I'm sure we can help locate another single baby duck for Marshmallow
Ducks have an insatiable appetite and they love to make a mess when they eat. Super important that you always provide a deep dish of water when you give food as ducks need to wash the food down with water else they can choke. Keep us posted.
AWWWWW... OK can I help? 1st thing is you need a second duck. Ducks are very social and they require other ducks to be truly happy. as much as I love my ducks (I have 5 of them) I realize that they will never love me the way they love another duck.
YES and very beneficial as its packed with nutrients. I use the duck pond water to establish grass from seed that was grown in fill dirt. The grass took very quickly when duck pond water was added.
LOL... I think so. Yes the girls use to follow the rooster all over the place. He was in charge of keeping them together. They seem to be a bit better today so I guess they have forgotten him. Now they follow my wife around like she is the rooster.
