I set 2 sebbie eggs in my inubator along with some chicken eggs....after the first week I realised my thermometor was off my 10 degrees f. (too low). I got it set where it should be and hoped for the best. I lost all but 1 chicken egg and my 2 Sebbie eggs started developing. I am at day 13...
After candling my eggs at 7days( Yesterday) none of the eggs appeared to be doing anything yet! I was using a mercury thermometer and it was reading 99.5. After I seen no growth I purchased 2 thermometers today and it looks like my thermometer had been 10 degrees off (too low) I've never had...
I saw an ad on my area craigslist for someone selling "show chicks"...it says they just got in a shipment and lists lots of breeds. This irritates me....since when can you call chicks "show chicks" it's too early to tell! LOL! Does this bother anyone else??? Had to vent! HAHA!
I have duck and chicken eggs that are incubating together. I started them all at the same time though because I was afraid the chicken eggs would get old if I waited a week for them all to be on the same time...(since duck eggs take a week longer)....have a screwed things up by doing this...
I bought 3 RIR laying hens yesterday...today they layed 2 eggs so far. One of the eggs was cracked so I opened it and it was fertilized...my question is...How long after being with a rooster will they lay fertilized eggs???? So this was from it's former home.... Cuz my rooster is only 5 weeks...
Should I candle tonight? Day 6 started this morning for me...or should I hold off and candle between 7 and 10 days? Not sure 1 day will really make a difference. If I candle at day 6 what will I be looking for?

I have a newer type Brower top hatch. Anyone know where to add the water? Just in the bottom on the tray itself? Or add a sponge? What works best for this incubator?

I have been trying out my incubator for a couple days now....the temps for the most part are pretty good 99.6 .....BUT sometimes I check it and it's 98 and sometimes 100....does it need to be more accurate than this or is it ok.....now I need to figure out how to maintain my humidity. eggs will...
I know I should rest the eggs for 12 to 24 hours after being shipped before I put them in the bator...BUT....do I need to let the rest with the big end of the egg up or does it really matter? They will be on their sides while in the incubator....any help?
