Silver laced Wyandotte pullet or cockerel?

Just an update for everyone. It was a cockerel in the end 😅 I didn’t get updated pics but 2 days later had long saddle feathers.

    Wanting advice about my broodies

This morning I woke up to the hen sitting on them having eaten 2 of them already... I’m familiar with hand raising chicks it was the broodies I wasn’t familiar with. It looks like I’ll be hand raising them since she thinks they are nice snacks and everyone else has decided they no longer care...

    Wanting advice about my broodies

So my last couple of months I’ve been arguing with a few of my hens about them wanting to hatch more chicks (I still have 23 from my last hatch). Anyways, my dog passed away and I couldn’t be bothered to argue with them about collecting eggs. Sure enough 4 of them sat on eggs. One (pearl)...

Are you good at candling dark eggs?

Would it be possible to get pictures of the egg being candled on the big end with the air cell. I find it much easier to see veining even in darker eggs.

    MY CHICK IS STUCK?

Chicks can take over 24 hours to zip after pip. Give it some time especially if it’s bleeding that means things are still being absorbed by the chick.

    Help!!!

They don’t look infertile. I can’t see any spider veins but my yolks usually look like the last picture you posted when they are early on. I think there’s still hope :) can check them again in about 4-7 days.

    Day 22 HELP

38° is a little high. If your temperature spiked it be to warm. Are the eggs from your personal flock or some you bought? Shipped eggs are harder to hatch. What was wrong with your eggs that didn’t make it to lockdown? We’re they empty? Blood ring? Or did they just quit? That might be able to...

    Day 22 HELP

Not all of them hatch. Especially on your first try it’s a lot of getting used to incubation. That being said they may still. You are right waiting till day 24 is a good idea. From there you can candle. If you see movement then you can put them back but if not they may just not have been...

    Help!!!

If you could candle from the air cell you might be able to see something. You can repost pictures and I can give it a shot but you won’t see anything candling from the bottom at the stage. My dark eggs keep me guessing till day 7-14 sometimes!

    Help! First time Hatcher

It sounds like yolk hasn’t been fully absorbed. Depending on severity I’ve had some absorb it after hatch, some where the rest just fell off and chick was fine and some where chick didn’t make it (These were more severe cases with bleeding). If it’s just a little I wouldn’t worry about it. If...

I’ve heard of this happening before. More likely to happen if there’s no rooster around.

    Ideas for modifying LG incubator

Thank you these seem like good ideas. Maybe I’ll try some of these before making more permanent modifications. Did you mount the fan?

    Ideas for modifying LG incubator

Anyone have any experience modifying their Little Giant incubator? I’m tired of causing humidity spikes in lockdown from running out of water and needing to open it to fill the channels. Currently that’s my biggest pet peave. About it but I’m open to other suggestions on how to make this...

    Failure to thrive

Hi guys, i have 2 chicks that’s are failing to thrive. One is in the brooder it’s sleepy, will walk around with its eyes closed, it’s breathing heavier then my healthy chicks, chirps a lot and loud when it’s awake, won’t eat (I can dip it’s beak and it will drink). Another one is still in the...
