    Faverolles Thread

Ah, don't forget to add the British Faverolles. :p All 3 are different in type. This is a German site (exceptionally informative, not sure how well Google Translate would work), but at the bottom there are old illustrations of the body types. Left to right: French, British, German...

Your favorite fancy Vegetarian/Vegan main dish?

Pasta Some nice tagliatelle or linguine. Not vegan but a simple cream sauce or butter with truffles or sage, topped with parmesan. Or maybe a tomato pasta. Fresh tomatoes, sauteed onions, garlic... Simmered in olive oil. Salt, pepper and fresh lemon and basil for taste. Keep it oil based for...

Poop! Cuz who doesn't want to take a look

To me it looks like the feather casings of new feathers. When feathers come in, they are like pins (at molt, some chickens resemble porcupines). Then, the casings come off to reveal fresh feathers. But they come off in little pieces.

[Germany/Europe] In search of Hedemora hatching eggs...

There are several different Swedish breeds. The Hedemora are not excessively large and lay a decent amount of eggs. Supposedly also in winter time, which would be nice to have a few here and there. But, they are a landrace breed, so no standard and no show bird breeding. They are meant to be...

[Germany/Europe] In search of Hedemora hatching eggs...

The pullets are just starting to lay. Hopefully there will be chicks next year. Maybe that is a reason the Swedish are so protective. Hatcheries are not necessarily good for maintaining a breed. Not that all are bad, but just too uncontrolled. The Swedish Flower Hen is very popular in Germany...

[Germany/Europe] In search of Hedemora hatching eggs...

Thank you for the reply. There is nothing to be found on Ebay. Only 1 shady seller in the classifieds which I don't trust. I was very lucky to get a rooster from a gentleman who has some stock from Sweden (he had a very hard time as well). He does not sell hatching eggs, but now at least I have...

[Germany/Europe] In search of Hedemora hatching eggs...

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has pure Swedish Hedemora and is willing to ship me hatching eggs, please let me know. I was lucky to get some eggs this year and hatched 4 gorgeous, very typical Hedemora hens. I would like to get some from another line but they are almost nonexistent...

Salmon Faverolle Chick - Pure Breed, Mixed Color

I used up my luck with the Hedemora this year. 5 out of 5 pullets! It will be hard to find a Hedemora rooster, but if he is young enough, maybe these 2 could get along...

    Peeps in Europe!

How are the hatched chicks doing? The offer of shipping eggs still stands. From Germany it's not that far. There is a young farmer here in Germany that is doing all he can to set himself up with dual-purpose birds and not support hybrids. He now has chicks from all lines of Swedish Isbar and...

    Peeps in Europe!

Hi, I don't know if you have a livestock vet you can go to (or a regular vet that can order), but I got Flubenol (meant for pigs) powder. I had to take the full package, but I think it was about €30 and will last a loooong time. Or maybe there is a farmer that you could get it from.
