Hello!
I was wondering how much garlic you put in your chickens water and how frequently?
Also... is it better to feed them crushed garlic rather than putting it in their water?
Thanks!
I have a 4.5 month old Guinea Fowl who I found 2 weeks ago unable to walk. I went in to the coop to find the dominant male pacing, chasing everyone. Piles of feathers were strewn about from the other older Guineas. The dominant male along with his partner and 2 others are 5.5 months old. The...
I have a 17 week old hen who seems to be unwell now too.
She has a gurgle in her throat. Was laying on her side. Dunked her in water. Her nose and eyes have liquid bubbling out.
Is this related. How can I help them?
I have a 17 week old Japanese Bantam rooster who has been crowing for a long time. His crow was never a typical rooster crow, it was always a little off but he was crowing every morning, every evening and everywhere in between.
I noticed yesterday he was making a high pitch squeeky sound while...
Thank you @sourland.
After I finished writing, as I cleaned the coop I thought more about it. We have 4 Guinea keets about the same age as Zsa Zsa, they grew up together but the last few weeks the keets have been becoming more and more pushy with the chickens. So much so that we’ve built a...
I just came to clean the coop and let my chickens out and found my 14 week old Silkie laying dead on the poo board beneath the roosting bars. She’s laying on her side, head on the side with legs stretched out and eyes closed.
I have no idea what could have caused this. I remember reading...
Thanks so much! I had contacted the first company a while back but received no response. I didn’t know about the second one you posted though. I’ll get in touch with them. Thanks again!
Very cool! I have something similar I used for the chicks but it’s a portable dog playpen. It’s fabric, not so good for the coop as the chickens will most likely jump on it and make it collapse. I like this one for the coop.
I let go of two who were a little too pushy. I think they were cockerels so I would have had to let them go eventually. I think I still have a few cockerel who will need to go. Time will tell.
Taffy has been with the flock but separated in her own run next to theirs and in a dog cage in the...
Thanks so much for the links. The second doesn’t seem to work. I’ll do a search on that site.
I’m wondering if it was heat related. I noticed it happened during the week we had very hot weather. I have a PVC waterer with 6 nipples so there’s ample watering space. I have a Grandpafeeder which...
Great idea, thanks so much. There’s another Lavender Orpington (same age) who is quite calm... I think they would be great together. I’ll try this for sure.
I have a 7 week old Lavender Orpington who had a terrible picking incident a few days ago. After having been picked at a bit I removed Taffy from the flock (all are 6-8 weeks old) to heal. Once healed I brought her back to the flock, everything seemed Ok... we left for a few hours. Huge mistake...
