I have a 17 week old Japanese Bantam rooster who has been crowing for a long time. His crow was never a typical rooster crow, it was always a little off but he was crowing every morning, every evening and everywhere in between.

I noticed yesterday he was making a high pitch squeeky sound while lounging in the afternoon. This morning instead of crowing he was again making a high pitch sound.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this would be happening?

Thank you.

Maybe his crow is changing. Much like a boy going through puberty. About 2 months ago one of my roosters crow changed. He sounded like a broken horn. He just turned a year old and had a 2ell established crow. This went away after some time and he's back to crowing but it does sound different and deeper.

I have a 17 week old hen who seems to be unwell now too.

She has a gurgle in her throat. Was laying on her side. Dunked her in water. Her nose and eyes have liquid bubbling out.

Is this related. How can I help them?

Why did you dunk her in water?

Is there any kind of smell around her or his face?

Is the fluid clear or colored?

Sounds like it's probably respiratory.

Just like a teenager. They say Hi mom (all sweetie and high) then a few months later they say Hi mom (in a deep baritone) Thank goodness chickens don’t need braces or acne cream. :lau

~~ I came to check on everyone, it’s extremely hot today. I found her laying on her side, I thought she too hot. I held her in cool water to lower her body temp. That’s when I heard the gurgling coming her her throat and saw a small bubble from her nose.

~~ I don’t smell anything abnormal.

Is the fluid clear or colored?

~~ It’s clear fluid.

Sounds like it's probably respiratory.
