I put the baby back a few days ago, just forgot to update you all. I've been keeping an eye on him, and yes, the mama was not happy with me when I out him back, but he hasn't been pushed out and I think he's growing strong with the other babies :)
Sometimes when I like my head out the door to...
I'm hoping to not have to keep him inside because I'm not sure if I could take proper care of him with my busy schedule. I'll keep an eye on him and my cats, and I'll move him indoors in a safe place during the night/rain.
Got some pics while moving the baby to a flat surface:
His little hurt foot is black and curled. He was grasping that hay pretty tightly with his good foot. Here's what I put him on:
Do you think he'll be alright on there?
I will get something to place the chick on. I'm just worried about ants getting him, which is why I put him in a bucket in the first place. One of his feet is normal, claws and toes all formed right, looks like a bird foot. The other is smaller, kinda nubbly and folded underneath him. But i...
I found a baby barn swallow today, and I know that the mama is probably aware that it's out of the nest (it wasn't far from it), but the only thing keeping me from putting it back in the nest is that it's got a deformed foot. It's got me thinking that perhaps it got pushed out of the nest...
He's eating and drinking fine, just flaps around in circles when he gets going. We were thinking of tying his leg up a little so he can get around better. Im glad to know he's not been suffering for no reason. Thanks!
Ritz has actually almost become the leader of the pack now XD
Ritz is the middle duck in this photo.
He's the middle duck here too. They looove the puddles. Ritz actually does an adorable dance when he gets into a puddle and it's so cute
Just thought I'd post an update on Ritz and his brothers. Ritz has improved greatly since I've given him vitamins! He no longer has rings around either eyes, his duckling fuzz has gone, and he's just as big as Graham now. He's a very happy duck! He's preening correctly and bathing regularly...
We just separated the cockerels from the pullets a couple of days ago. Scrooge has his own temporary pen, the cockerels are in what used to be the duck pen, and the ducks and girls are in the big pasture pen. Our cockerels and half of our pullets are scheduled to be butchered this Thursday, and...
It does look a little like that, just lighter and more spread out around his tummy. Maybe it is just from sitting in the dirt. He is a little overweight, so he might spend more time sitting than the other ducks.
Hello!
I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of what could be happening to Saltine, one of my pekins. Over the past week or so, his stomach has turned a sort of yellowish color and looks almost jagged. It goes from the base of his neck to his butt on the underside. There's also been a lot of...
Someone asked me to share some photos of my ducks, and I've finally managed to (remembered to lol) take some pictures of my spunky Quackers.
This is Saltine. He is the biggest, oldest and chubbiest duck. He's wary of new people and often wanders off alone to graze or sleep. He's pretty salty...
My heart hurts for you and your family. I hope all goes well and everything turns out alright. Stuff like that can really try to break you down, but you have to keep being strong! God is listening ♡:hugs
Update on Ritz:
I put him back with his brothers and they all seem much happier now. We gave all three ducks extra vitamins in their peas this morning. Ritz and Graham are inseparable once again. I watched them take a bath together this morning and as I did I noticed that Ritz doesn't preen...
Thank you so much for all of your help! I'll do what I can and hopefully Ritz will get better. Do you think it's alright to put him back with his brothers now, since he's probably not contagious? He's very lonely and I worry for his mental health.
