Moving to the area in the next 6 months and would love to know about your backyard chickens. Looking at Riverside/Rumford and Cranston mainly, but definitely want to move somewhere where we can continue to have hens in the backyard.
Old thread, I know. I understand posting here like the party guest that rings the doorbell after the rest are all gone and the hosts are drunk, tired and ready for bed.
But!
I'm a chicken owner here in Texas who is moving to Rhode Island in the Summer, and can't imagine living without...
Neighbor's dog burrowed a hole underneath the fence separating our yards, killing two chickens and injuring a third. This was my first flock, so I was hit hard to see my birds suffer, then die in front of my eyes.
There are four left, including the injured Australorp. I have a .3 acre...
Just lost two and a third one is injured by the neighbor's dog who burrowed a hole under the fence separating our yards. If he had it in him to kill them, I'm surprised it took him 2.5 years to do it.
Thanks! I'm happy to have blue/green eggs to look forward to! Keeping my fingers crossed that it's a hen.
And no worries about the cat. As small as they are, they already showed her who was boss when she ventured too close. Now she wants nothing to do with them.
I bought three chicks today, two of which I know are Black Australorps. The third was an impulse buy, and I didn't even think to ask why type it was. This is my first time trying to upload pictures, so I hope they show up!
