hi angel, thanks for your offer. this pair has been re-homed at a horse farm in alamo. i could have sworn i posted that update, but now i don't see it. sorry for the confusion!
in case anyone else is still following this thread, i got a phone call from the new owner yesterday. the girls have...
i think that my chicken-wrangling days are over until i move to a different location. i really cannot go through this whole ordeal again. i will just have to be patient for now! thank you to everyone.
Thank you to everyone for your support. A nice couple who live over the East Bay hills and own a small horse farm and chicken flock are picking them up today. They sound like great chicken guardians and I guess this is working out as best it could.
Thanks so much to both of you!!
Because I love these girls, my first choice would be someone from this forum instead of craigslist because I know all of you are totally chicken lovers.
Thank you so much. I would be willing to deliver them, and will definitely contact you if I don't find someone close by. Do you have an e-mail address or other good way to contact you?
Yes... It is extremely disappointing. I am definitely disenchanted with my beloved city of Berkeley.
I did try, though... I tried very hard to make this work. I am sorry that it just did not work out.
I am sorry to say that I received another letter today that my Ameraucana is still squawking in the daytime and greatly bothering some neighbors.
I am now giving up. I must rehouse them. I posted this thread offering up my chickens: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=41186...
Hi, everyone....
You may have been following my ongoing saga in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=41186
I now have received an additional letter from a neighbor telling me that my chicken noise is intolerable. I am, unfortunately, forced to give my 2 beloved...
THanks for the help, everyone. I figured out the problem - resistance on the door. I screwed the rails in rather firmly and the slight resistance this gave was enough to stop the door entirely since it relies entirely on gravity. Thanks again.
Hi everyone,
I got my coop door closer in the mail today from the UK
( http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/vsb_export.htm )
and unfortunately, it is not working for me (it opened the door, but is now stuck on open). The instructions are pretty scant and their only solution to a stuck door is to...
You guys, this is really quite amazing. I did end up writing my neighborhood an e-mail and the response has been intense. No one even knew the chickens were on the block. Basically people are really irate that a neighbor would write an anonymous letter, and also that someone would complain about...
Hi 12 Acres, as a nurse I definitely respect the night shift! Sorry that I sounded like I meant otherwise. I was saying that this lady isn't being disturbed from pre-work sleep. She's retired. And yes, I was being rude anyway.
I will definitely be very nice to her now, though.
Thanks, ya'll.
The chicken is loud. It's true. When she buk-KAWs, it is loud. She generally does this after she lays an egg, particularly if the retired hen then proceeds to sit on it. Potentially, the chicken does make noise for a while. When I am home, the noise is brief (<10 seconds). It's...
Hi guys,
I'm not sure if anyone cares about my ongoing saga, but...
I got an anonymous postcard in the mail yesterday. It says,
"Cluck cluck cluck. The fowl in your yard say this for an hour or more every day. With the barking dogs, what more do we need?"
This came as a complete surprise to...
