I have them in a small pen right now with a baby pool, and they've just been chilling in the pool all day loving it. Sunny's pool is right next to their pen, so they've been getting to know each other better. Thanks for the replies =)
Greetings!
I recently lost my crested rouen to a fox that has been terrorizing the neighborhood. My male pekin Sunny was very upset, this is his second buddy lost to a fox! I brought home 2 young female pekins for him last night, that were hatched in April. His reaction to them was much...
Aha! I thought he was too big to be a Mallard, but certainly looks like one because of the coloring. This makes way more sense. Thank you guys for confirming that!
I had the exact same problem (1 drake and 1 female though) MY drake was a sweetheart until he started mating with the female. He turned into a total dick and attacked everyone. The female decided to peace out (flew away or got eaten) and it actually was the best thing that ever happened, because...
Ducks don't need a heat lamp in the winter, do they? I live in Ohio and my girlfriend keeps saying they need a lamp, but I've read that they will be just fine without one.
I finally have an update!
So the Khaki never came back, and it's actually been a blessing in disguise. We were previously dealing with a VERY aggressive Pekin because of the mating. He would attack anyone at anytime for no reason. Since the female disappeared, he has been the biggest sweetheart...
That was my other thought as well because ducklings can't be introduced for some time. Unfortunately, there's not much for sale around here because I live in the suburbs and not the country. I haven't seen any feathers or blood, but I heard foxes can snatch up ducks and not leave a trace.
She is definitely more wild than Sunny, the Pekin. We could never touch or hold her like we can with him. It's even been a pain in the ass lately just trying to get her back in the coop at night because she wanted nothing to do with it.
Poor Sunny duck stands on the patio, quacking endlessly...
I have a male Pekin and a female Khaki Campbell that are 5 months old. The Pekin always follows the Khaki around while she forages, they are very close and have been since ducklings. The Khaki disappeared the other day and has not returned. I tried calling for her and driving around the block...
I have the exact same problem. My male pekin went from being a big sweetheart to a total asshole. He's even attacking all the neighbors now. This has been going on for months. I've tried holding him down, chasing him away, picking him up, but he doesn't care. He's out for blood. The only thing...
My male pekin has been biting for months and is now attacking the neighbors. I don't know what to do anymore and my girlfriend doesn't want to rehome them.
I've tried all of this, but he will just keep coming back at me and bite my feet or anything he can reach. I really don't want to get more ducks in case it doesn't make any difference with him. I'll have to come up with something.
Hey Guys, I need some help...
I have 2 ducks - a male Pekin and female Khaki Campbell duck, both 4 months old and I've had them since they were 1 week old. The male Pekin, Sunny, used to be the most lovable guy ever. He would come up and give hugs and kisses and he loved to be pet and held.
A...
He runs from us when we try to pet him or get him in the coop for the night and sometimes he will bite us if we try to handle him. Maybe this is just normal behavior for this breed, but we don't know much about ducks. I feel like the Pekin is so much more relaxed when the Khaki is. But when the...
Hello everyone!
My girlfriend got me 2 ducklings a little over a month ago; a Pekin and a Khaki Campbell (We are still unsure what sex they are at the moment) We made sure to handle them and socialize with them every day, and they loved to snuggle. Now they are about 2 months old and we have...
