she is a Novogen.. which I think is a cross between a rode island red and another breed. I wasn't worried about it really just curious as I hadn't seen that before
I have two blue laced Wyandottes that started going broody in wintertime... we tried the wire cage method they'd stay in it for maybe.. 6 days and be fine.. put them back out with the others wait 3-4 weeks and right back to being broody.
now I have two brooding at the same time we chase them out...
we are giving them crushed oyster shells along with fresh veggies to snack on and mealworms and oatmeal and hard boiled or scrambled egg as the local feed store said it was ok to give that to them as treats

When I went out to feed our 6 hens tonight I noticed that Myrtle our one Ameraucana was bleeding on the side by her tail feathers.. I think she cut herself when she tried to fly from one of roosting pegs and may have hit a sharp spot I found on the ceiling.. we put some peck no more cream on...
