Hatch day snuck up on me. I gave the chickens treats before bed and checked on my broody Bella and heard a chick chirping in a egg, now almost 5am here and she has a chick with another pipping. Nithing in the incubator but they are a day behind.

Ended up with only TWO pullets! And I'm sure they are actually back crosses not F1 :barnie hopefully I get some olive eggs. Also hatched some purchased olive eggs as well a while back. its 50/50 for green eggs with these three.

Perfectly normal for parent fed birds to have full crops most of the time. As long as they empty some overnight (dont need to be fully empty). Parent fed chicks get less processed foods than what we would feed them which takes longer to digest. With that many babies I would be more concerned...

3 again. Two Marans and a bantam

6 yesterday, 3 today. Summer time here and a lot of hens my have stopped layings. Marans seem unaffected

Sadly none of my eggs developed. I think the heat here in Australia turned my boy off doing his husband duties and now my hens are laying less. I'll try again when it cools down

My last lot for November has almost finished. A blue and a black olive egger, two splash Marans x Barnevelder, one blue and two splash copper Marans. There is one Marans egg still in there that I didn't realise had pipped so I popped the three back in there to encourage it.
