Question about food when young & older chicks

I appreciate all the feedback. Since they are still separated today’s delivery is the chick starter and layer for older ones. I told them in the next delivery in two weeks we want the flock raiser only. Hopefully get everyone together. We will keep oyster shell out going forward. It’s just been...

Lice infestation! How do I remove the nits???

we did baths for all, feather removal as best I could and DE, so far we haven’t had anything come back yet. I don't know much about Permethrin or even if it’s available in our small town, however, we do try to avoid anything that is harmful to the bees.

Lice infestation! How do I remove the nits???

could you message me what you use as well? This thread is very helpful. We just found lice on some of our girls and nits. Not sure I want to remove feathers if retreatment would alleviate. Chick Breed, Hens or Roosters

I could be wrong but I think Amercaunas ara an easter egger. My Amercauna has puffy cheeks. I think behavior is a big indicator at this age, do they come at your hand or run to the corner when you reach in.... keep us updated. You never know until they crow haha

    Chick Breed, Hens or Roosters

Puffy cheeks are usually Easter Eggers... Sunshine looks like getting some red waddles? I’m voting that looks like a rooStar and Tootsie looks like a pullet. Curious to see them in a few weeks! Cute chicks

    Please help a newbie out!

I’m sitill new to all this but I think the wing feather trick only is accurate for certain breeds and in the first few days. Ours are about 6 weeks now and combs & waddles are just starting to develop to give me thoughts as to who is what. As they grow the next few weeks I’d watch the...

    Need a little coop/run advice

Super cute coop! I think its definitely a good idea to go bigger for the run. We built ours out of solid 2x4s for strength and chicken wire. As things appear around town like old metal for roof we’ve covered some of the run to protect from sun & rain

Pullet or cockerel- 5.5 weeks old

Hi, we have two chicks I’m thinking might be cockerels, hoping for some more experienced feedback. One is a blue barred rock and the other is a black australorp. The blue barred rock was a little feisty at first but not as much now. Had the signature white for on its head and has the two toned...
