I was wondering if I could have a rooster, yet have him neutered? I wouldn't mind having one here with my hens, but I do not need any reproducing. I am just in this thing for the companionship and egg production from my girls.
Please help,

Hi, I'm still relatively new to chickens, but I also have a few hawks which circle my yard occasionally. Nope, every day. I have a netting over mine just in case. The reason I feel it is important is because of the hawks. Eagles soar as do hawks, but hawks can also hover. It seems to me...
You can do just about anything with Duct Tape. Of course there are dogs in which this won't work with, but it's worth a a try. It worked for my Dad and Grandfathers chickens/dogs, and those dogs were hunting dogs. My dog hasn't killed one yet, but if she does, she is history on my property...
I am looking for a Toulouse gosling or full grown goose. I am finding it difficult to purchase just one. I don't mind if it is several months old, I just want one. I don't mind the extra shipping haste.
Help me out please!

Well, it's also snowing in the Atlanta area, I'm just letting my hens do whatever they chose. I figure they know if it is too cold outside of their coop. As you may detect, I'm a libertarian. I even believe in letting the hens have the right to choose for themselves....lol

Any words of wisdom on this breed? I just want it for a pet and a weeder for my garden this year. Anyone with any experience to share?
Please share your thoughts and experiences!
Thanks,
Kimber
I also drag a gallon of hot water out in the mornings. Not too many freezing mornings in the Atlanta area though. I figure this will only have to go on for another six weeks or so. It stays thawed all day as the temps normally go up rapidly during the days.

I agree that first you need to make your neighbors aware of this and ask them to keep their dog or dogs on their own property. A BB gun should work, but if necessary, borrow someone's paint ball gun and shoot the dog. That will let the neighbors know that this is still going on. Surely they...
I am north of Atlanta and my best friend is in South Florida and she wants me to send her some eggs when my young hens start laying. Question is....what is the best way to ship them?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

My family used to attach the dead chicken to the dog whom killed it and made:lol: the dog wear it for a couple days. He said the other dogs learned not to kill the chickens from this method as well. Just learning by association I suppose.
Whatever works, right?

Sorry about your loss. I would most definitely file a police report. After figuring the price for each, also make sure to add the funds it has cost you to bring them up to their age. Food, etc....and don't forget the pain and suffering due to the love and affection.
My family, back in the...
