    Wry neck symptoms

Thank you for replying. No he wasn't vaccinated. But none of the his siblings are acting strange. I was doing the vitamin E with selenium 400iu once a day. I couldn't find anything about vitamin E being given too much so I was adding an extra vitamin E without selenium. I've cut back yesterday...

    Wry neck symptoms

Hi , so I have a 13 week old silkie cockerel with wry neck symptoms. When we first noticed something was wrong (6/8 I think), it was just a small head tilt. I brought him inside and immediately started giving vitamin e with selenium and polyvisol. The next day he was standing with a slight head...

    Help predator proofing my fence

Thank you all! I have l learned since that you are not able to make the whole fence hot. That was an ignorant statement on my behalf. We are opting to run a line at the top and bottom. We do have raccoons in the yard at night. I don't mind them. They come long after the ducks have been put up. I...

    Help predator proofing my fence

Hello, a few days ago I caught a fox looking at my birds right at the fence about an hour before getting dark. We have a predator proof coop for them at night, but they free range inside the chain link fence during the day. Now they have been bound to the coop until we figure something out...

    Soft eggs

Thank you for replying! I will definitely try making them some scrambled eggs with the shells. And look into the other forms of calcium. They eat the pellets, but other than that I have a hard time getting them to eat other stuff (veggies and fruits).

    Soft eggs

I bought a Buff (3years) and Pekin (2years) about last July/ Aug. A lot of the eggs they lay are super soft and bust. Even the hard shells seem really brittle. I have them on the Purina Layena diet and offer oyster shells. They have zero interest in the oyster shells. Is there something else I...

    Single duck. What's next?

I agree, however we have no idea. She was acting fine during the day. When we put them up she acted like a zombie. Found her floating in the little pool in the am. If you have any suggestions? The male is acting fine (besides being incredibly lost). I'm extremely worried about him being too lonely.

    Single duck. What's next?

Thank you for your reply! We're all very upset. My cayuga is a little inbred. His feet are pointed inward and can't move very fast. Would he be left behind by runners? I should have known food is always the answer!

    Single duck. What's next?

Hello, I found my female mallard deceased this morning. I have no idea what happened and I'm very distraught. That leaves my male Cayuga alone. He's already very lost without her (she was definitely the leader). What's the next step? 1.) Find adult female or 2 2.) Adult male or 2 3.) Raise 2...

Ducks stay under porch all day

No, we don't have any shrubs and its wooded just about all around. I would hate to take away some of their only cover because I do worry about hawks. I was hoping they would just get confident with time. So glad to hear that may be the case...

Ducks stay under porch all day

Hello, first time duck owner here. I've learned so much from this site. Thank you! I have 2 ducks Tuffy (crested cayuga..ie. Tuft and male) and Tulley (rouen/mallard?..female..very much the boss) We finished their duck house a week ago. I had them inside that for a full week. The plan is to let...
