    Looking for female Ancona duck

I'm definitely interested, but only in a single hen. Do you have any pictures of those ancona available and more information on shipping costs/details? I've only had day old ducklings shipped before and I don't want the long distance to harm this girl. I'm willing to wait and order sexed...

    Looking for female Ancona duck

I am looking to add a black or blue Ancona hen to my pet flock ideally by next spring. She will be spoiled with love while living together with 1 Ancona drake and 2 female ducks. They spend time in a clean and secure run and free range while I am outside. If all goes well, she may even have the...

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

The purpose of this thread is to share different personal experiences with drakes and how they behave in different duck/drake ratios. All individuals of the same species can very rarely be described with blanket statements; they obviously have breed or gender tendencies that you can expect, but...

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

Yes, but obsessively so like during parts of the year? What I'm taking from what others have said is that they obviously still mate roughly, but not with the intensity that they do during breeding season.

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

Luckily I do have a setup that would allow me to separate them during mating season if needed! This has been educational for me, too. Due to my bad experiences with only a handful of drakes, I didn't realize that they aren't always overly randy 365 days a year. I'm glad to hear some of you have...

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

Agreed! I'm not really horrified by the nature of duck mating. I know it's really rough, but I think maybe we can all tend to compare it too much to humanized behaviors sometimes. The ducks I've known had a favorite drake and would constantly beg for his attention and so I knew they were happy...

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

Thank you for sharing! It's good to know that they aren't all necessarily aggressive. But, jeez, it sure does sound like there is no real way to tell until breeding season comes around. I really hope that mine treats the others well because I absolutely adore all 3 of them and couldn't stand to...

♡ Come watch my ducklings grow up ♡

Update #9: Moony: (5 weeks) Holly & Puddles: (4 weeks 3 days) All signs of angel wing are completely gone! It only took two nights of wrapping and fixed itself right up. I'm also planning to upgrade their feeder within a day or two as it looks like its getting harder for them to shovel enough...

NEED HELP!!! What gender is my pekin duck?

How old is Poppy? Do you have a video of her making sounds? She looks like she's old enough that you could definitely tell if she was quacking or making the croaking sounds of a drake by now. I'm bad at judging drake feathers so I'll say I'm not sure there but it does look like a curl to me.

That's what I'm hoping :fl My ancona is very tame and sweet right now, but that's without hormones...

Single drake behaviors + drake/duck ratio

Hello! I've got three ducklings (two which are sexed female and one straight run chocolate ancona) and while I'm certain two of them are female, I can't be 100% that my chocolate ancona is not a drake. I know that the coloration is sex-linked and the odds are in favor of a hen but the breeder I...

♡ Come watch my ducklings grow up ♡

Update #8: Moony: (4 weeks 1 day) Holly & Puddles: (3 weeks 4 days) Everyone is honking! Looks like I have 3 very talkative girls :) Moony and Holly seem to be developing very slight angel wing so I've been wrapping it daily and will keep at it until they grow in correctly. Protein is only...

Oops! I didn't even notice she mentioned their ages... Yes, at 5 months this is what the familys' Rouen looked like. Very different indeed!

    Sexing Rouen Ducks--6 weeks

My family has 2 year old a Rouen hen with a partial neck ring too :) She had them confused for months! I'm going to guess they are all hens except for the one on the far left with his face turned. I think that duck may be a drake based on the dark unbroken black stripe on his head, the sort of...

    Scared my duck will die

I believe that only millipedes release a smell when endangered to protect themselves. They are both non toxic (but nasty!) if eaten and not venomous if they bite. Many centipede are venomous when they bite but should not usually kill or seriously hurt a duck. Your duck should be fine :)

GRAPHIC Need some help Duck attacked by Dog

Perhaps you could keep her in a bathroom or bath tub? It sounds like you have your hands full with school. Maybe your parents can help take care of her while you are away? I would definitely not recommend putting her back outside since she needs to avoid infection and keep away from flies.
