The gel loosened the remaining pus disc and we got it out. We found a clean, wet rag allowed us to wipe it out easier. Eye looks like it might be a goner which vet expected but otherwise I think she'll do fine.
However, she is now fighting the oral antibiotic more but oh well we'll get it done.
We got some Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel and have used that the past couple of days to help soften it and today we got most of it removed only to find another pus disc underneath it. It seems to be attached to the eye itself but hard to tell. We'll keep at it but looks like we're making progress.
The vet called to follow up and said she would expect it to go away with the antibiotics. Regardless of that I've tried twice to get it out but can't seem to dislodge it. We rinsed with a saline solution first in hopes of loosening it and then I've tried working it out with my thumb/index finger...
Yea its a liquid antibiotic and your advice on the wattles was very helpful. I found I can firmly stroke the wattles/upper neck to get the mouth open for my wife to get the syringe in and administer. Also giving us a guide of .5cc was good as we were concerned with asipration
Early this week we noticed on our our birds keeping one eye closed. We initially thought it might be debris or an eye injury and rinsed her eye each day with a saline eye wash. We then noticed it started to swell and develop a white covering that looks like pus to me. She is a bit lethargic...
