I don't want to mention any names, but.... :) I have had many different breeds and for me personally I don't like breeds that are considered flighty or not particularly friendly. I only keep a 4-7 hens at a time...
Yes, thank you for your advice. This one bunks with 2 brahmas. Right now I’m feeding them 18% protein and they do have grit and fresh water. It makes me sad after I was so glad to see him/ her recover from the leg injury.
This barred rock should be very close to 4 weeks. It broke a leg at 1 week and recovered. Could that slow down feathering? The seller was confident this was a female, but I’m having serious doubts.
My worst mistake - Getting lazy and not locking the chickens up on occasion. Too cold, too rainy, blah blah- the weather doesn't stop predators from seeing if the chickens are locked in safe and sound. :( A night predator killed all 4 of our girls one summer.
Could a fire ant attack cause this? I know we have nest on our property. When I have been stung, it itches like mad for weeks and there is a blister that scabs over. etc.

I can also testify that after having it one year, it had warped so much that pretty much every door is ill fitted. The slats on the sliding windows warped and fell off. We repaired it and it is doing it again. I would not recommend this unless you keep it indoors! lol
