I moved in with my son and daughter-in- law two-three years ago; they had chickens. I loved them so much that I took care of them like they were my own. I don't live with my son now, but when I visit I ask about their welfare + bring them a treat; smoothie pulp, cut up vegies, etc. I would love...
I used one in my car to protect the floor before I got floor mats. Another time I used 2 or 3 to cover holes in the chicken coop where the chicks were escaping. I had to secure them because the older chickens would scratch at them and try to move them out of the way. I used another to feed the...
To paynemom, a few coops I have seen were with windows but many are without. The people just make sure there is good ventilation as in the soffet or air vent in a house attic. Windows could create a cold draft which would be bad for the chickens.
Thank you, Ducksandchickens and Eggcessive. I am not tech-savvy enough to post a picture and I am alone in house. Sounds like a good plan.I will follow this treatment when I can get some help.
Last night we had a chicken cut her foot on a saw where the toe meets the foot pad. It's not deep, only about a couple millimeters and the bleeding stopped a few minutes after my daughter put a little hydrogen peroxide on it and wrapped it in a cloth. She was able to take it off. She got a dog...
It looks like a feed bowl with yummy, healthy beets and either throw-up or poop, (sorry) right in the center. Sorry this happened to you. I laughed at your comment; I have had this same reaction in the past.
I found some green-blue colored eggs outside today laid by Silver Leghorn(s). Two have been laid recently; they are bright green-blue but five are very cold and greenish brown so I could tell they are frozen. If I thaw them will they be good to eat? They could have been outside a week or more...
Thank you; I will show my daughter-in-law this post and any others from people. I have steamed eggs to a hard-boil a few weeks ago; they were good. And I will remember to move the eggs when we steam anything! PouleChick, you confirmed how I think on using partially steamed eggs-better be safe...
I have chickens who free range and the eggs are collected in a wire basket and set on the bar above and back of the stove in the kitchen. A few times I have boiled water which created steam in large pots not even noticing the eggs being there. Well, my daughter-in-law broke open an egg that has...
About 3 days ago a hen from our neighbor came into our yard. The whole butt-end was exposed-no feathers and was not bleeding but red right under the skin. One of the neighbor's boys came over and told us they have many chickens and this one was at the bottom of the pecking order. Poor girl! If...
