Funny story. I let my girls out to scratch around one day. I seriously spent 20 minutes trying to get the girls back in their pen. I got my son out there and he had both of the girls caught in like 10 seconds! LAME!!
but really, anybody know where I can get a couple of birds who are ready...
Why would yolks go from a dark, rich yellow to a light yellow? I haven't changed foods since this change happened. I'm not sure what's going on with my girls. Whatever it is, is affecting both of them.
any ideas?
thanks,
carybear
So after Months, literally of waiting for the girls to begin laying again after moving them with us across the country, I've got a broody girl!
So Salmon Faveroles aren't supposed to go broody. She's not even sitting on anything! I'm 99% sure that this is the girl who was burying the eggs in...
So after moving the girls 1500 miles they have started laying again. It only took 3 months! but I have a girl who's burrying her egg in the fluffy stuff in the laying area of the coop. Is this normal behavior? also these eggs are MUCH smaller than the other eggs.
I thought the Cuckoo...
I just moved from Utah to Louisiana and that 1500 miles did a number on my girls. I had one that had JUST started laying the days before we moved and I had nothing from the first of January until this week! So who knows, I'm just hoping that the other three start pullilng their weight around...
I'm really so new here that I don't know. My girl who was laying had only been laying for a week before we moved from Utah, so I hadn't gotten to where I no longer needed to buy eggs from the store. Yeah it was dang cold there. even the 30s we are having here are a HUGE step up from the teens...
UGH, I'm so sad. I haven't had any eggs for 3 weeks now. I know they're not happy we moved them from Utah, but 3 weeks worth of egg with holding? I would have guessed only a few days.
anybody have any suggestions on what I should do to help them calm?
I just had to post:
MY girls are LAYING!!! i found an egg this morning. I'm so excited to be getting fresh eggs now! I think it was one of my marans since they are a week older than the Salmon Feveroles. *squeels with delight*
Hi, everybody!
I'm currently in Utah but my husband and I have just decided to move to Louisiana! we're looking in the Calhoun, Monroe, West Monroe area. We'd like to be a little more country than right in Monroe. So can y'all help me? maybe direct me to the ordinances for those areas and let...
I'm loving learning about my girls! So far they love the weeds I pull from the garden, they love Oatmeal (dry) and crasins (they actually were fighting over the crasins), they're not as thrilled with onions or squashes. OH! they're loving bread too!
I'm way too easily amused by this. And...
*sigh*
I'm so sad. I'm away from home and my chickies are growing so fast. Plus the housesitter was an idiot and left the big dog, Maggie, outside as he was helping the chicks into the coop for the night (they're not quite big enough to get up into it them selves) so Truffle, my welsummer...
How do I know when my birdies can be out side in the coop over night instead of in the brooder? My Cuckoo marans is getting a bit big for the brooder and I worry every night about her getting out and possibly getting hurt. the others are about a week younger than her but all are pretty...
these are the cute babies. black: Belle, Brown, Truffle, Yellow: Peeps & Pebbles
this is my minpin, Monty, watching vigilantly. He's not actually in the pen, but on the outside behind it! he really likes the chicks!
Okay so how do you keep your dogs obession with the chickens at bay? I...
HMM... I am finally a chicken owner!! I have the chicks outside today since it's so very warm. they're about two weeks old and getting quite feathered. I didn't expect it so fast. They're not so much my cute little fuzzballs anymore!
I've got one cuckoo Marans, a Welsummer Marans, and two...
