Thank you, that's exactly what I am currently doing. I filled the feeder around 8.30pm last night and it was empty and tipped over this morning around 7am. All three waterers were also nearing empty.
Hello all, I have a flock of 12 days old Cornish Cross broilers. I have never had meat birds before and need some advice on feeding as there are so many differing opinions. The articles section on BYC says that a light should be left on during the night to encourage feeding but I am fearful...
The starter is higher protein than the layer. I keep mine on a starter for 8 weeks and then a grower until the first egg, then switch to a layer ration. Lots of treats too. I mix in grit and egg shells (crumbled really fine).
I would leave them in a makeshift brooder until around 4 weeks and if there feathers have all grown in then you can try and introduce them back into your flock. This is a hit or miss process as older, larger hens have a habit of picking on the younger chicks. You could try placing the brooder...

Depends where you are located really but I have partly covered and partly uncovered. Serves as a protection from weather and predators. I can close off the uncovered area and stop them from going out there if there is a spike in our aerial predator numbers during the day. My girls do not seem...
Hello all, my family and I live in the beautiful Kootenay region of British Columbia and are not new to keeping laying ladies but are completely new to the happy little chickens that will soon be off to 'freezer camp'. We have just moved to our new homestead and are eagerly awaiting the...
