I think I will just turn it loose and let it take its chances. If I Surrender it to the county not only will they charge me a lot of money to put it down but they will put it down. Everybody thinks every bird in California is infected with Newcastle disease
I have a 5 week old cockerel Barrerd Rock in need of a home. Unfortunately I live within City Limits and can't keep him which is a shame because he's so pretty. He is very friendly and loves being held and having his neck rubbed LOL. I live near Sacramento CA and would be happy to deliver him...
Does anyone know where I can post to try and rehome a 5 week old cockerel Barred Rock? Unfortunately I live in the city and roosters are prohibited. I would rather not have to surrender him to the county because they will just put him down. :hitAny input would be much appreciated. Located in...
Let us know how they do. Mine are going to go out next weekend if I can get the coop painted by then. First time for me so I get the nervous/scary part completely!
Oh wow! I'm hoping the yarn will eventually break down and pass. I've been giving grit so hopefully having that already in there will help. Paracord is another story, surprised that the bird didn't die from that!
So I was tying up a hanging feeder with some yarn I had and one of my girls jumped up and snatched it out of my hand. I tried to grab it as she was being chased by the others and she gobbled it up before I could catch her. The yarn was about 3 inches long or so. Should I be worried and is there...
My babies do the same thing. I don't use heat lamps but rather infrared bulb with no light. They still cry a bit when it's "bedtime" but only for a couple minutes. It is good for them to get into their natural sleep cycles sooner rather than later IMO
That's what I've read as well so I'm confused as to why a lot of people don't use it. Personal preference or environment maybe. I plan to use it, gonna put together a bath for them today. I took them outside to "play" and all 4 were dust bathing in the dry dirt lol
+1 on the large flake. I had the same problem with my chicks eating the small pieces. I switched to a larger flake, mana pro I believe it was, and haven't had the problem since.
Thanks I will do that. The first couple times that I offered grit they ate it up like it was the best thing in the world LOL. That's what had me a little nervous as to how much they should be eating
I'm sorry to hear about your losses . I too have noticed my babies eating the smaller shavings. I switched to a brand with larger flakes and I do notice a difference as far as them eating it. I like the idea of sand, maybe I'll try that next time.
