Those almost look like Wyandottes to me except for the feathers on the legs...I have 2 light brahmas that are about 1-2 weeks old and one is double the size of the other. I just figured one was "the runt" of the flock.

I have one hen (Nutmeg) laying and 5 other hens that are not laying yet. i have three golf balls in the nesting box to teach them where to lay. Nutmeg lays right by them. When shoud I take the golf balls out? When the other chickens start laying? Any advice?
Just thought I'd post a pic of our coop/run. Got the coop from a friend who did not have chickens anymore, and we built the run coming off of it. They sleep and lay in the coop and spend their day in the enclosed run. We let them out when we are in the yard as well.
ThankS! My RIR that's laying (Nutmeg) is laying in the nesting box, I put three golf balls in there and she lays everyday right next to them, so hopefully the others will lay there too :)
They may need more calcium? Have you tried crushing eggshells really small and feeding that back to them instead of the oyster shells? Parsley is really good for laying as well.

I noticed one of my leghorns and one of my RIR's are just starting to squat. How long do you think til they lay? One of my RIR's was squatting and laid her first egg about a week later. Not sure about the leghorn though. They are all around 18 1/2 weeks old. Any ideas or guesstimations...
We got our chickens from Tractor Supply, they have them in store certain times of the year. We got ours in April, but my husband was just there last week and they had some as well. Not sure if you have that store in Maryland. We're in MI.
