well it's definately been hot. And humid. August in Pennsylvania -ugh. Hopefully that's it. When all four start laying again and my younger chickens start I'll have eggs galore. But guess that'll be next month!
I have 2 khaki's and 2 black swedish. All were laying fine. Now the black swedish are apparently on holiday. Had a third khaki die several weeks ago -just keiled over. Can't remember if timing related. But no one is sick, they are active and eating and loving life. Just not laying. Nothing else...
ohh - looking that up it appears you may be right! on the downside, they are largely ornamental so unless she's mixed with something that is a decent egg layer I guess she'll just be the barnyard bling :)
got a few random chickens with some ducks I bought. They were only a few weeks old then but guy said all the chickens were hens. However other one is clearly a rooster. . .and then there's this one. Doesn't cock-a-doodle or try to mount like the rooster, but not laying yet either
