    Tumor, injury, bumblefoot?

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping that was just dirt. Thankfully, there are a lot of instructions about next steps on this site. I'm not sure if you (or anyone else who finds this thread) know, but will that hard bump on top of her foot more-or-less deflate when I cut out and clean the scab...

    Tumor, injury, bumblefoot?

I just noticed this bump on my americauna hen's foot, and not quite sure whether it needs treatment and what that treatment might be. She's behaving normally, no limp, just the bump. The bump itself feels firm. Based on photos around here and internet of bumblefoot, I'm not sure that's it, as...

    What is your favorite breed?

Have to agree. Sesame, our Speckled Sussex is the sweetest and friendliest hen in our family. Love them all, but Sesame is special!

Hen aloof and lethargic, barely eating - help

Great news! So glad she is doing better. I'll look into tracking down some panacur as I wait for valbazen to arrive. Thanks for the update!

Hen aloof and lethargic, barely eating - help

I haven't noticed worms in the poop, or any other invaders around her vent. I'll definitely post an update once she receives the medicine. Being a relative newbie, I haven't wormed them before, so I really hope that works.

Hen aloof and lethargic, barely eating - help

I had to order Valbazen online (none nearby), so I won't be able to administer for several days. I'm hopeful that she'll hang on until then. Today's poo was yellow and cheesy - yuck!

Hen aloof and lethargic, barely eating - help

Thanks for the info! Would you recommend I worm rest of flock? None showing symptoms, but only 6 others, so wouldn't be too hard to do.

Hen aloof and lethargic, barely eating - help

Hello - One of our 3.5 year old buff orphington hens has recently started acting quite strange. A couple days ago, I noticed she didn't exit the coop when I opened the door to the run (usually she bursts out with the others to try to get morning bugs/worms first). That day she sat alone at the...

    They ate the mustard!

Vaseline - interesting! I'll look into that (although I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to fill egg with vaseline :)).

    They ate the mustard!

There's been an egg eating mystery the last couple of weeks. Once every 2-3 days, there will be signs of an egg being eaten. We've tried golf balls, but we have a Buff Orphington who is prone to broodiness - once the balls are inside, she won't leave the nest box. Quite the conundrum. So...
