Great!! I wasn't sure about the dose, so I only gave her half a pill, since she had such a rough 2 days, I didn't want to put any undo strain on her organs. Now that is back to her old self, I will give her a whole pill with her scrambled eggs for a couple days. Thanks again!
Good Morning Everyone!! Lucy is up and talking, eating and back for her old self!!! Thank you everyone for all your advice and encouragement!! I'm going to make her scrambled eggs with calcium for breakfast right now!!!:celebrate
Wow, thanks again for all the great advice!! Here is a picture of what I found in her coop yesterday. I have 600mg calcium pills with 125 iu of D3. Is that ok to crush up and give to her?
Thanks for all your wonderful advice... I just bought her grit, ground oyster sells and a probiotic to add to her water. Hopefully she will be feeling better soon. I called our vet today and they are looking for a local poultry vet that will contact me. She is standing in her coop right now...
I will take pictures of her tomorrow and post them. I have not seen a single feather in her coop, so I don't think it's moulting. I did look at her comb this evening, and it still is straight and very red. I know it's difficult to diagnose a sick animal via computer, I really appreciate your...
She does lay large eggs, usually 60-70 grams. and she did have an 80 gram egg last week. She's not really fat, just plumper that when we rescued her. I took this picture of her yesterday. Does she look fat to you? Thanks again for all your help and advice.
ok, thanks for your input. We will cut back drastically on her corn. I only gave Lucy the frozen corn when the heat index was over 100. Since she is walking normally, I thought she wasn't egg bound. But since Lucy is my first chicken, I know I have a lot to learn!! She has been laying...
She eats Purina Layena Plus Omega-3 poultry feed, and we give her cracked corn and mealy worms as treats. We have cut back her treats the last weeks because she has gotten a little fat. We do limit her mealy worms to 2 table spoons per day. She stays in a 4 story coop, no free range. There...
We were thinking of getting her a friend, but she is SOOOO spoiled now, were are not sure how it would work out. She is my first experience with chickens. She picked us to rescue her from a neglect situation. She has been alone since June 8th. I give her lots of toys, treats and put a mirror...
She does sleep in her nesting box. When we first got her she roosted, but now she puts her head under her wing and sleeps in her nest. She has been doing that for months. She has always been a great layer. last week she had a 80 gram egg!!:D
