Hi! I actually did YouTube some examples of the male/female voices today. Although while I could tell the difference in the YouTube videos, I’m still not really sure about my own ducks. I even had a friend compare to the YouTube videos and she isn’t sure either. They honestly sound sort of...
They’re still fairly young, about 11-12 weeks. And I did post a picture of them in the “Male or Female Rouens?” thread.
And thank you! I thought they did need the grit before introducing other foods, so I will get some today or tomorrow. They will start living outside soon as well for their...
Hello! I have two Rouens (I think... unless I got the eye stripes wrong and they are actually mallards!) but I am still unsure of whether they are male or female. Right now they both have female plumage, but they are only around 11-12 weeks. I did attempt to vent sex them when they were still...
Hahaha yeah, there usually is poop coming out with it! That’s why I was surprised when I heard one duck fart not once, but twice with no poop to follow...
Right now they are eating non-medicated chick starter/grower, with some mealworms thrown in every now and then. I plan on letting them...
Hi all,
I have two Rouens that I’ve had since they were a day or two old ducklings. I previously thought they were both male, but now I am not so sure. One of the ducks has been... well, farting lately. This is my first time owning ducks, and I’ve followed along here on BYC with how...
Keeping them outside is the plan. :) They do have an outdoor shelter that should be arriving sometime Monday, we just have to put it together once it arrives. The aunt seems to have backed off a bit since the last time I saw her, and I'm hoping that once she sees they are outside she'll have no...
Yes! I think the pics have actually reassured my fiancé that they’ll be fine outside... he knew they were going outside eventually but I think he was still a little worried about the little guys. I’ll definitely be sending those pics to a few other people who still aren’t convinced as well. :)
They aren’t. She doesn’t even live in the house with us, or even next door but down the street. She just hates the idea for some reason, even though her husband (who is the one who actually comes over and maintains this house) is okay with the ducks. I think she thinks they can’t go outside in...
I actually love geese as well, it seems many people hate on geese even more than ducks for geese reputation as being more loud/annoying/aggressive... unless that’s your point, annoy her with baby geese into letting me keep the ducks...
Thank you so much! And yes, a place That’s entirely our own would be quite lovely. In that case I’d probably have to have way more than just two ducks...!
Oh my goodness... they keep telling me that ducks fly south for the winter, so they’ll freeze to death in snow. No one seems to want to listen to my Information courtesy of BYC  And I hope I can keep them as well, but am already mentally prepared to rehome them in case it turns into a...
