    Double Embryos!

Also Kokoshka, not related to the chicken egg, but do you watch ImpulseSV, he says a name very similar to yours in his streams.

    Double Embryos!

Sorry it wasn't too exciting! The egg failed and there was only one chick in there, must have been feet and head I could see. I've been doing this a few years now and that egg REALLY looked weird like two chicks in there.

    Double Embryos!

Thanks, I'll have a look around when I have a minute.

    Double Embryos!

Alright you guessed 100% correctly! The chick must have been lying across the egg perhaps. Anyway an update is that the embryo(s) stopped moving and then in the morning when I checked, all the veins had shrunken in and there was a 'dead' egg. I opened it to have a look and there was one single...

    Double Embryos!

I started with 23 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 6 of my own Campine x Aracauna x Silkie and at day 6 I could pick out the unfertilised ones and a cracked one, then the incubator started heating like crazy and soaring up to 41 degrees at one point. So I am pulling out dead embryo eggs left right...

    Double Embryos!

Yes I am hoping that it's just the head and feet of the same embryo, but I'm sure it's two as they move separately and both have the eye dot that I could see a few days ago. Last night (12 hours ago) they were both still wriggling. The incubator keeps over heating though, so I'm getting another...

    Double Embryos!

Th They are due to hatch in 8 days, so they are on day 13. I'm not holding my breath, but it's so cool to watch two dancing around in the egg! Another egg in the incubator shows a much larger embryo though, so they are delayed a bit. Probably due to being two in there, I guess?

    Double Embryos!

Wow, first time I've seen two embryos in the one egg. I am fully aware they probably will fail as there isn't enough room, but it's amazing to see while candling. I took a quick video of it. If you want to see, I am gobsmacked and keep wanting to check it but I'm letting it alone to grow. Hope...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Hi all, Thought I would update again on this chicken. She has become a huge fluffy bum hen and gives an egg a day about the size she hatched from which is quite small - but still an egg yay! Blondie is very mischievous and jumps over fences to eat our tomato and pea crop, but we forgive her...

    What breed is this rooster?

Hi all I've posted a video on YouTube of a gorgeous little rooster roaming where we fill up our water containers. What breed is he? Many thanks, Rowena.

Can a bantam hatch from a full size egg

Hi 3 chicks, I just saw your post and thought about my tiny chick. Blackie hatched out of a rather large egg and the parentage could be Father: Silkie or Silver Laced Wyandotte Mother: Black Orpington, Barred Rock, Silkie, or a Bantam (bantam type unknown). I for sure thought the chick would be...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Update: The chick is doing really well and has gained 102 grams since the cotton was pulled out. I filmed the eating and clearly Blondie is eating well and still very active like before the cotton incident. It is awesome to see the chick doing so well as I thought it was going to go bye bye...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Hi Texas, the lump has gone down a lot, I'm assuming it was just swelling from the tongue/trachea being pulled away from the area. The lump was to the beak's left just under it's "jawline". Will try take some more photos of the chick to see if it shows in the photo. Rowena.

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

There is wet food as well as the chick starter but Blondie seems to be eating the dry starter more than the wet. I hope this continues. Thanks ChickNanny. Rowena.

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Update time: This morning the wee chick Blondie was standing on the food bowl looking like it was picking up food and when I walked near the chick ran to the door of the hutch. What a difference to the eye closed hunched over chick from the last few days. Blondie is still crying and complaining...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Yes I thought so too especially after the tongue went even further down and disappered. I hope you can see on the video that it's just one hole I could see and I had to fish the tongue up out of there. Poor thing was probably so close to death I figured I'd try rather than kick myself later...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Update: I really hope this helps someone in the future with maybe the same or similar issue. My daughter and I checked the chick that we are calling Blondie and the tongue/trachea are even further down the throat! The video is here.. But the real update of the day is that the poor chick was...

Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Thanks Townchicks, the little chick has such an awesome personality to it, a real character, loves running around ducking and diving and seeing it dustbathe at a week old I just fell in love with it!
