2 Belgium D’uccle Roosters: Mille Fleur / Lavender Gray Colors
Two delightful little roosters, about 6 months old, no spurs yet. They are a fancy, sought-after bantam breed - Belgium D'uccles! One is colored Mille Fleur and the other is a Lavender Gray - both unique feather patterns/colors.

Got this chick in April. No clue what breed - a cross between a faverolle and something else?! Also guessing a cockerel but more interested in what breed is this? Five toes and feathered feet should narrow it down but the fifth toe isn’t in the same location as our salmon faverolles... idk!
Started with 3 bantam frizzles and found the early blooming boy a forever home. Now down to two, the black chick is obviously a roo and crowing his little heart out. Thinking red might also be a boy given those developed red wattles but wanted to check with y’all.
Look at how they sleep at...
I'm in California so the molting shouldn't happen until fall. Her breed is supposed to be decent egg layers.
Good question on the overweight bit. Now I feel like I've been body shaming her, since I weighed her today and she's 6.4 lb (internet says her breed can reach 6.5 lb for mature hen)...
Our polish was a hen! Surprise by her personality given her crest inhibiting her sight - she is fearless, curious, social, top of the pecking order, and a feminist.
Chicken friends, please help!
I have a small 3-hen flock (pecking order, top to bottom: polish, bantam frizzle cochin, salmon faverolle).
The salmon faverolle has laid 1 egg in all of May and she's 2 years old. She's overweight and has seemed more lazy lately. Her poops vary from perfectly...
Just to update, this chicken ended up being fine. I never got closure on why her poop was bright yellow like this but she has since laid eggs and is doing well. Thank you to all who responded!
TMI, but thank you for bearing with me... upon further inspection I did see that the 1yr bantam who has not laid eggs in nearly 5 days had a little bit of the same yellow color on her vent [picture attached].
Given that my bearded and light feathered hens have no sign of messiness around...
Anyone have any ideas for what this yellow material found in the nest box means? I am guessing it's sourced from my bantam cochin, who has not laid in several days. She's walking around fine and seems active. No one is acting lethargic and there were no egg shells. Everyone's vent looks...
Brought our two chickens inside due to toxic air conditions from wildfire smoke... They're in a cage and the one keeps purring with a stone cold glance that doesn't move and is very still. The other looks stunned when the purring is happening. For our birds, this definitely isn't contentment...
To report back, the Japanese bantam has started trying to crow. Confirmed we have a boy! I have uploaded younger photos of him incase anyone else out there would find these photos useful.
Still waiting to tell on the Polish chick. Fingers crossed we have a girl!
:)
Our Japanese bantam is ~10 weeks old and our Polish chick is 6 weeks old. Both are extremely active and curious so we’re concerned they might be boys (which we’re not able to keep). Please let me know what you think!
