Can I put two hens and their chicks together?

Thankyou :) I'm going to be very brave and put them together this afternoon and see how we go :) *I say brave because our two bantams have never been humanised and they hate us lol.

Can I put two hens and their chicks together?

Haha, yes a little group of weirdos :) I can't wait to see them grow. So Dad is a bantam x silkie x something else. I'm pretty sure these were all her eggs (Bantam x Plymouth Rock?) - the yellow one and the black with mottled wings I'm 100% sure are roosters. Pic of Dad for you.

Can I put two hens and their chicks together?

So I have 2 best-buds bantams (and 1 rooster and 5 bigger breed hens). One bantam hatched 3 chicks on the 22nd July and her little bantam friend has just hatched some today. We only have one separate enclosure for hens with chicks, so will there be issues if I put the new bantam mama and her...

    Bantam Chicken Question

Hi, after some infromation on Bantams - I have googled but can't find what I'm looking for. We were gifted two bantams that have never been humanised, so they won't come near us like the other hens will. Not 100% sure of age, but we think they are reasonably young. One has just hatched 3...

    Chicken Starter question

One of our hens has hatched some babies over the weekend. We moved mama and the bubs into a safe enclosure, but I can't remember if I only need to leave out chicken starter - or if I need to leave out seed for mama as well? Currently I have both in the enclosure as well as water. Appreciate any...

    Cockeral or pullet

haha, no its fine. We were after a rooster, but were given a pullet, so we got this guy. He has some bantam and silkie in him ...and goodness knows what else, but we just were starting t think he was she, because he hasn't started crowing yet and is getting bossed around by the older girls :)

    Cockeral or pullet

Yeah we are confused, he has the same comb as one of the hens and is making clucking noise, also getting 'henpecked'. Do roosters sometimes make the same clucking noises as chooks?

    Cockeral or pullet

Hi Chicken Brains Trust :) Hoping for your help again. Our last 'rooster' turned out to be a pullet so just wanting a gender ID on 'Marley'? We really arent sure at this stage. Very much appreciate any help, Kind regards Tracey

Is Jazz a roo or a hen?

Oh thankyou, I was so hoping to get that answer! I am in the Fraser Coast area in Central Queensland Australia and we re-homed her from a local lady who wanted to focus on just having a flock of silkies. She is actually really golden in colour in the light with the green-black lace edging under...

Is Jazz a roo or a hen?

Hi Everyone, After some assistance in identifying if one of our new chookers (Jazz) is a hen or a rooster. Has some of the physical attributes of a rooster, but definitely not the behavior of one. Meant to be about 6 months old and no signs of crowing, just standard chicken banter. We...

    After some advice

hmmmm....ok thankyou. Unfortunately lost a whole flock end of last year to a rogue dog, including my lovely rooster. He was a much bigger roo than this one and was pretty responsive to me do the arm flap (he was not hand raised and had had hardly any human interaction). He would get on the gate...
